reef-pi :: An opensource reef tank controller based on Raspberry Pi.

Glued down, looking for command line testing... If it won't show up in term I'll replace it then.
Most common cause is an intermittent wire touching ground in the connectors. The wires are small. The ground ring is big and it can move. Check wiring carefully.

In your initial question you said a 4.7ohm resistor, I hope you meant 4.7k ohm...

The commands to check it out would be:
Code:
cd /sys/bus/w1/devices

ls #this will show you the devices recognized by the system

cd 28-XXXXXXXXXXXX #change the Xs to the number that showed in the previous step

cat w1_slave #this should give you a raw reading from the sensor

There wouldn't happen to be an alternative method I could try 1st? Everything is in that box

Life has been busy , since I got my 3d printer

It’s been running almost 12hrs a day since then .

Idea is to learn how to model and print things over the course of next few months . Some calibration prints first

Not perfect , still a lot needs to be improved , but good enough to get started , I guess
First print was a pi case for octoprint, the opensource software that allows remote management of the printers and runs on pi

Next, Ryan wanted his car to be printed, before he allows me to work on it at peace. He is becoming an IRS like entity at home :-)

Next is modeling a reef-pi enclosure and print it

I am having trouble calibrating my ph sensor. Specifically I can't create a cookie.txt file.
This command "
curl -X POST -d '{"user":"pi", "password":"mike"}' -c cookie.txt http://192.168.1.161/auth/signin
"
runs and says "null"

Then I type ls -alh and I don't see a cookie.txt file.

This worked on the first pi, but this type nada. Any suggestions?

Everything looks good except the output of ls. Can you share a screenshot of your terminal ? Something is missing, probably the file is being created in different place . Cause sign in is happening

well I fixed it. YAY

I re-entered my login info into reef-pi authentication tab. Rebooted and tried again. This time the cookie.txt file was created. I must have not been giving the right login and password to reef-pi as I didn't update them after installing reef-pi 3.0

Im glad it worked out. But I do think reef-pi has a bug , or unexpected behavior. Ideally it should respond with some kinda error message indicating a failed auth. Put otherway there should not be silent yet bad failures. I'll see if i can get time and fix it. It will be nice if you file a bug report. I wont forget that way

Sweet! I am sure you'll be a pro and be printing top quality items in no time. I believe you already know this but there is a 3D printing thread on R2R and many of the members are extremely helpful with new users.

Raspberry Pi 4 was announced. Tech specs:
Broadcom BCM2711, Quad core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz
1GB, 2GB or 4GB LPDDR4-2400 SDRAM (depending on model)
2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE
Gigabit Ethernet
2 USB 3.0 ports; 2 USB 2.0 ports.
Raspberry Pi standard 40 pin GPIO header (fully backwards compatible with previous boards)
2 × micro-HDMI ports (up to 4kp60 supported)
2-lane MIPI DSI display port
2-lane MIPI CSI camera port
4-pole stereo audio and composite video port
H.265 (4kp60 decode), H264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode)
OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics
Micro-SD card slot for loading operating system and data storage
5V DC via USB-C connector (minimum 3A*)
5V DC via GPIO header (minimum 3A*)
Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled (requires separate PoE HAT)
Operating temperature: 0 – 50 degrees C ambient
* A good quality 2.5A power supply can be used if downstream USB peripherals consume less than 500mA in total.

I think the pi4 is way overkill and at some point defeats the purpose of a pi in the first place. 55$ for the top model is getting kinda expensive as well expecially when I have like 4 of them.
Yeah. I was hoping for more gpio or other peripherals. There are talks of additional i2c port. It would have been nice if they had added sata or Emmc storage .
