I see no reason to leave the T5s on unless someone really, really needs the extra PAR. Only running my T5s for 4 hours a day means they may last 2 years.
Well, that's what I meant. To turn on T5s first for an hour and when Radiums comes on turn the T5s off. Same thing when Radiums goes off at night... T5s on for an hour.
That actually will make the T5s to last many years...;)
That's what I was thinking the other day.
Grandis.

I run my (4) Giesemann Actinic Blue T5s and (2) Radium 250 watt 20k MHs as follows:
  • 4:00pm T5 on
  • 5:00pm T5 off, MH on
  • 7:00pm T5 on
  • 10:00pm T5 off
  • 12:00am MH off, T5 on
  • 1:00am T5 off
So my T5 and MH are on together for 3 hours of the day... to blast my SPS and clam for a bit.

Ushio 14K 250W was my SE go-to bulb on Electronic with blue supplements, but bummed to see it not available. I hope that this is just temporary. If you want to try it and just need one, hollar - I might have one on the shelf. The Gieseman 14K equivalent (I hate their new names) would be my second choice.
