Sump

The sump will 800 x 550 x 400 (mm) made from 6mm glass. All edges will be flat polished.

I will be building the sump myself, actually if I’m honest I’ve already done it once! One of the seams wasn’t up to scratch so I ended up pulling it apart (urrgghh!!), and chipping the bottom panel in the process. I have ordered and received a new bottom panel, this time I’ve decided to use 10mm glass, and began the tedious task of removing the old silicone.

looking great so far. can't wait to see the finished product
As a cabinet builder and tinkerer I have to compliment you on the stand. Looking real nice duder! Some solid planning and craftsmanship. I’m also impressed with your metal work. Keep rockin the build and posting updates!

Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot.

Not a huge update as I’ve been lazy with this over the past couple of weeks.

The tank base is now painted white. I had to remove the enamel in the previous picture as it didn’t bond well and redo it in enamel spray.

The tank is now sat in its permanent position on the stand also which I am pretty happy about. The idea to laminate the plywood trim to hide the foam came out pretty well. You can see the foam in the below picture (I’m pointing to it with a pen).

I know life can get in the way but any update or even a quick picture? Thanks!
I also think it’s time to bring some closure to this thread!

The tank is still running, though in a different form than originally intended. About 10 months ago, my wife and I (but mainly my wife ) decided that the hour commute to work was getting too much and that she really wanted to move closer to the city. We found and purchased a block of land and we have been in the process of designing a house (with a tank incorporated in the design) since. As such we sold the house pictured at the start of this thread and have been in a rental property for the last few months.
when we moved I decided to remove the rock (I had several MaxSpect blocks in the sump), and set this system up as a frag tank to attempt to propagate some nice coral for the impending new build. Before I moved this tank it was really starting to take off. The photo here was in June 2021, and the photos in the next comment in February 2022, so about 8 months apart. Everything started from frags.
