Shimmer benefits

Is shimmer pure ascetic or is there benefits from shinmer. Browsed around couldn't really find anything.

I'm gonna run a 4 bulb t5ho over a 75 with a led strip for dusk to dawn affect but having a debate about shimmer with someone. Them saying running t5 isn't gonna shimmer which is gonna be bad in the end.. which knowing myself t5 have been ran for how long on how many tanks alone and if everything is good it'll thrive without shimmer. So wanted to know if anyone had a benefit to shimmer. Thanks.

Shimmer is magnified light. So yeah it should penetrate deeper helping corals and algae to grow.
