I don't think a coral is going to change color the moment it hits the water. This wasn't something that happened over time other wise he wouldn't have had an issue.

It is a great thought and there are situations that this is the case. But this wasn't an over time thing. It was he received the coral and right out of the bag it was green.

Green rfa are yellow under intense blues

It's not but photogrpahed under heavy blues. RFA do the same thing. Always ask for pics under white and different spectrums.

It was about 12 years ago ago I got tired or ordering coral and it not matching the photos or the look in the LFS and at that point I realized if I want my coral to look that way I need to run a blue dominant reef. And I did. And I’ve been happy since.

I am very familiar with photographing corals and having them come out accurate to in person viewing

I 100% agree this is the same coral but I do not believe it’s yellow in person under any lighting. It’s a manipulated photo.

It's magic my green elegance turned yellow it only took several layers of camera filtering and changing the tone labout 3 layers . But it's just the lighting...

That would be the last time I purchased anything from them. Been there done that. Some online vendors are way more reputable than others. Cherry Corals for example. Their pics are pretty dang close to what you can expect. I’ve bought a lot from them over the years. If you buy a yellow hammer from them, you can expect a yellow hammer. Austin Aqua Farms is another good example. Pics are mostly taken under whites. Corals.com is great also. I like that they have walk through videos each week showcasing all the corals available. I received a Glitter bomb Goni today and it looks identical to what they had posted on their website. I understand that things may not always look identical. But it should be close. A month ago I ordered a MRS Piggy Goni from TG and it was exactly as pictured on their site. I was expecting a bright pink Goni and that’s what I received. Not an orange, not a red, not a brown, but a nice pink as pink gets Goni.

I would say since it's one of a kind about 25k. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: I wouldn't be surprised my image ends up somewhere else starting a rumor and a search for this coral now lol.

If there is zero yellow even on full blues then that is indeed troubling and would be upset as well.

Yeah there is no yellow whatsoever, so this is what upset me a bit that their title specifies its a yellow mushroom.

If it were me, I would either ask for my money back or return it. This is 100% false advertising. I don’t care how you wanna sugarcoat it, if you’re gonna dink with photo filters or other BS to falsely represent a product to sell it’s total misrepresentation period. It’s basically just flat fraud and for 300 bucks that’s a big hard no and this practice is only gonna get worse because everybody’s trying to do something to sell their “special” corals. This fetish of trying to get everything looking like a glowing toxic hazmat spill is absurd. That isn’t what a real reef looks like. That’s my rant, thanks for showing up, carry on

I agree it is false advertisement. They manipulated the photo and took it as far as to call it a yellow mushroom in the title. They don't want to give me a refund. I'm considering calling my bank but I would want to give them their coral back as well. So I'm not sure what to do. I might just have to take a loss.

The rock looks like that being they were taken in different positions if you look on page one.

But no 2 corals will have the same exact markings. It looks a little off because the photo in green, is more extended. I can map out each spot and will be exact same shapes. It's easy to think though and I understand.

It’s 100% the same coral. Here is a triangle mark on both the exact same. Markings near the edge will constantly be changing as it grows depending on how long they have had it after the photo was taken

Don't care about jawbreakers, but to get yellow fluorescence you need light between 450nm and 500nm, to put it simple blue(not royal blue) and cyan.
Are you sure it's not just different lighting?
What are your light settings and fixture?

I use ai prime HD. In this picture uv and blues 100% and cool white at 20%

You didn’t get what you ordered - they should send you the correct coral free of charge

Edit - looking back at the detail it’s the same just a different angle. Didn’t realize the lights could make that much of a difference. Pretty unfortunate tho. Hopefully they can do something for ya since it isn’t really 1/1 with what the picture displayed. :/

Yeah hopefully they can make it right, I feel like they should know better. As big as an organization as they are. They know the coral looks to the eye vs what's depicted in the picture they posted.
