Not sure if I should be worried or not but figured I should ask around. Could it be STN or something else. I've been watching it and it hasn't been spreading..
Any clues?

I've had a few of mine go like that and I just frag em' and re glue them just to be safe but I've also had a lot of them do that over the years and never really seem to get worse but I usually frag em and then the problem goes away

could it be like that because it isnt getting any light in that area?

Maybe a lack of flow or lighting under there.... Really hard to say but it looks like algae has began to grow there so I take it that piece has been like that for a long time???

probably right about it not having enough light in that area. Now with my LEDs I hope that changes. I do notice a little more PE during this light acclimation period and a little more growth. The white section is slightly spreading but the coral growth is faster... what should I do?

I hate to say it, but out of fear I will.

...the red specs around the base. They aren't red bugs are they?

no, actually the dark green areas have turned more pale and white and closer to the flesh color(being optimistic). What other signs of red bug would I b able to see in my tank?

Was the frag in another spot where there could have been some bubble algae or mojano/aptasia touching that spot?

Redbugs are nothing if that's the case but I don't see any from your pic.... If you were to get any pest that's the ones you want treatment is simple and effective...;) take a few pics and zoom in the best you can of any other smooth skinned acros... That could help us with a possible pest Id if there is one to be found....

I have a tricolor that is showing the same kind of tissue recession.

I know what it is on mine, though - AEFW... Hope it isn't for you, but take it out and dip to see if anything falls off that looks like an AEFW.

R AEFW visible to the naked eye? I actually should dip it...

If anything, I'd think an asterina ( the type that look blue) might have done that kind of damage, and it wasn't exactly recent. You can see how some of it has turned green.
