I’m thinking about getting a mushroom coral for my 32.5 fluval flex, what types of mushrooms are the easiest to care for. What are the types that grow the fastest and what colors do they come in?

There are many different types of mushroom, some very expensive when you get into bounces. Mine are just plain old shrooms orange in color. I have seen red, green, and blue ones. They can be a bit invasive as the babies tend to end up in different areas in my tank. They are very hardy and easy to care for.

Shroomies!
I believe all three of these are various Ricordeias, fairly easy to care for.
Almost any color you can think of, but the more diverse colors are a bit pricier.

I don't feed any of my corals other than the mysis that my fish don't eat and fish poop. I started with 2 or 3 blue rhodactis and a couple of the yellow ones and they spread on the entire rock. Love the blue color. Very hearty if you keep your params in check.

My orange ones grow and multiply pretty fast but I couldn't give a time frame. I've had them for years. These came from a tank teardown. I took a rock covered in them to the lfs.
As to xenia I have no idea why but I can't even keep it alive even while other softies thrive.

Its weird man, i have had a kenya tree that grew relatively fast but stopped after a while and my xenia has grown somewhat but not nearly as fast as other people have said it does.

I like Rhodactis shrooms and the green one has made 1 baby since being in the tank for about a month or so.
Low light, low flow, and nitrates above 10 seem to do the trick. Looking to add a Red and new Orange one since my Orange one jumped off his frag and into the lower intake of my nano. He's still there/alive but not sure if he can handle the flow. I can't get to him so he's on his own. lol

Xenia has been a strange one for me. 8 or so years ago when I started I had some that did well then withered away and I haven't been able to keep it since even in 3 seperate tanks with different parameters. I've added it to my ever growing list of coral I can't keep lol.

Poletti Jawbreakers have got to be one of my favorite, reasonably priced "high end" mushrooms. I have had the same one for over 8 years now and its gone from a plain orange with a single red streak, to mostly red, with orange blotches, and a few specks of green.

They can also vary in color wildly between one another (which I like when they cluster into a group).

Here is a crazy cool one that came from the mama in the picture above.
