After not having had a tank of my own in over a year, when I saw a little glass AIO sitting on a table in a thrift shop I decided I would give a small tank another shot. After a quick leaktest and a clean up, I started work on my aquascape. Using some live rock from a friend's tank I put together a small aquascape and filled the tank. I cycled for about 6 weeks before adding coral and a very small clown. (The clown opts to nest in her anemone most of the time anyway.) As of the new year, I currently have a Birds Nest, Bubblegum Digitata, Green Pipe Organ, Rose Bubble Tip Anemone, Frogspawn, and a pinkish red Bounce Mushroom. I also have a few hermit crabs & snails, and a sexy shrimp.

Tank: Marineland Contour 3
Return Pump: Sicce Mi Mouse (82gph)
Light: Kessil A80 Tuna Blue w/ spectral controller (Switching for a AI Prime HD when the arm arrives)
Heater: Aqueon 50w
ATO: None

Parameters are quite stable. Water changes are roughly ~30% weekly. Clown eats pellets & mysis, and I feed Red Sea AB+ for my corals. Overall, it makes a great little bedroom tank.

I setup a marineland Contour 3 g too and was wondering how you setup the filtration in the back since it was meant for a freshwater tank. Please share.

The original poster likely will not answer, this thread is 2 yrs old.
With regard to the filtration simply put a filtration sponge in the back chamber. I recommend not using any media except for when you're doing a water change or cleaning the tank.
I do not run filtration in my 6 gallon tank. Routine water changes are sufficient.

That's all I have today is a sponge filter with weekly 1 - 1.5 g water changes. It's bare bottom and the detritus build up is an eye sore to me.
What light are you running on your 6g? settings?

Popbloom rl90. It's definitely over kill. I only put in a sponge on water change day. I run a Bubble Magus skimmer. No fish or cuc. I do dose nitrate, microbactor7, ammonium chloride, AFR and kalk.
