skimmer going crazy

So i have a bubble magus nac3 skimmer and every time i do a water change i unplug it change my water then plug it back in. after i turn it back on it only bubbles up a quarter way of the neck and shoots out a ton of microbubbles is this normal? can i possibly be the salt im using is affecting the skimmer

the new water changes the surface tension of the water. Just leave it off a little while longer and give teh new water to completely mix with the rest of the tank water.
