I apologize for the incessant questions and everyone’s patience. I’m currently trying to break in a BM curve 3 extreme. I have it sitting in 7 inches of water an added a venturi to dial in the air. System is new and only had 2 clowns and a few hermits so obviously it’s not pulling anything really yet.
Is there any way to curb the micro bubbles? I can’t exactly tell where the bubbles escape from and additionally I put coarse pad in the bubble trap but a great deal makes it into the display still.

ONLY reason I’m asking is cause I believe the micro bubbles are periodically causing my overflow box to need a major adjustment maybe once every 24 hours. I believe they are getting trapped in the return elbows or possibly return pump? What would cause this major variance. I suspect it’s causing the system to burp maybe? Should i jam the bubble trap up more, the diameter of the pad is thinner than 1 inch.

Thanks as always

Some skimmers really do require a break in period. Just from reviewing the forums with this model. Many have reported up to a month before it was running smoothly.

I would recommend just dialing it back to the point its bubbling halfway up and leave it for a week. Then slowly increase it. That's what I do for all mine.

Note trying to be smart, but did the instruction manual say 7"? I know my book said 5-7". I tried it in 7 and had bubbles and move the sump water down to about 5.5" and the bubbles were gone the next day. So maybe a try.

I can do that, that’s what I intended til I suspected that it was causing possible air being trapped and causing my overflow box to be inconsistent. Do you think that’s a potential culprit?

this model is 7-8 from what it says online but I will go dig the box out just in case.

Any idea if the micro bubbles are possible causing my overflow box to be inconsistent?

What's your sump layout? Most have a bubble trap to prevent this. If not, you can potentially add some foam between the chambers to help mitigate this.

Yes micro bubbles can cause siphon issues affecting your overflow. Just depends how much we are talking.

You know, I had the coarse pad loosely in the bubble trap but when I pushed it all the way down the suction grabbed it and now all the micro bubbles aren’t making it to the display. Go figure.

I forgot how much tinkering this hobby can require

What leads me to believe it’s the micro bubbles is because the tank ran 2-3 weeks without the overflow being inconsistent . It wasn’t until I started skimmer break in.

There’s a bubble trap before return chamber, now that I pushed the pad down gently next to not bubbles are making it to last chamber and zero to the display.
