they both use the new sicce pumps. THe JNS is awesome. They are both good but I would favor the JNS. Either way you go you will be happy.

Mojo - follow up from a few months back and a question. I bought the CS2 and it has been great. The pump is quiet and I am very happy with the way it is built and skims. BUt...

In my new set up, it is too tall for my stand. Getting the skimmer cup on and off is a huge pain and getting it in and out to clean is even a biger job. So,

Is there a skimmer you would suggest that would perform as well but would be shorter? It could have a slightly bigger footprint because I do have some room in that chamber.

Current Specs: 11 x 9 x 21
Tank: 75g mixed reef that I plan to stock heavily; about a 30g sump

Thanks.

You could look at the tunze 9011 with the sump kit.

I will check those out. I have had good success with Tunze products but had only been considering cone skimmers. Have you used the 9011? Will it perform as well as the cs2 or another cone?

I just got a seaclone 1000 by the makers of intant ocean, i read reviews after purchasing it, and it turns out quite a few people are not happy with it. Ive run it for about two days and its giving me a green tea like liquid. I dont know what the "sludge" should look like. but mines really liquidy. and it keeps spuwing foam on my floor. what should I do?

a lot will have to do with your sump there. you will have to run the 9011 deep or get the sump kit.

yea they are not the best of skimmers. But to save face I would dial it down and wait. sounds like you have it too high then it kicks in and overflows.

I am clueless on skimmers. I bought the MF121 from Jon Warner and I am building a sump/fuge for my 90 gallon. I am using an old 55 gallon with an overflow box, my tank is not drilled. I also will be purchasing a Mag 9.5 this weeknd. I have 1/4 inch acrylic for the baffles.

Now, my questions are:

1. How high should my baffles be?

2. Should I build a stand for my skimmer to sit on, and if so, how high?

3. How do I use the skimmer? lol But, I am serious!

I am unfamiliar with this skimmer but from my experience I have found that most skimmers work nest in 5 to 8" of water. I built a stand from eggcrate and set my skimmer on it, then just added layers of eggcrate on top till I hit the sweet spot.

^^That one needs to run in 8-9" water. Run it for a week with the gate valve half closed, then after your getting a nice foam head adjust it as needed.

luke is correct. I just leave the air valve wide open as well. you can dial it down for fine tuning later if needed.

I was reading through all these post, and I noticed this, and looking at the 1000 int the footprint is smaller, and depth of water is lower also. So from answering my ? earlier on the PM I sent you. what about this with a bubble blaster pump, vs the BM hero 180, and CS1 ,and S-150.....thanks man !

Skinz here is my 2000int @ 6 in if I remeber correctly Takea look and see how it compares to yours....

What is the main differance between these 2 skimmers besides the pump ? the seaside aquatics cs1, and es7 . all i can tell is the cone is staight on the cs1, and the es7 has the venturi not in to the return pipe. I can not find any info or reviews for the es5 or es7. So what are your thoughts ?
