Can you use a waterproof smartphone as a lux meter?
There are apps or there for lux so it got me to thinking...

Can this be done?
Is this a viable idea m

I have the iPhone 7 Plus and it didn’t work well when I tried it with a couple apps a while back

Somehow this thread separated into two.
Can a mod merge the two threads into one or move a reply from one thread to the other then delete the extra thread?

The 16 apps I tested and compared to a true lux meter were not realiable.

$15 and a zip lock and or waterproof bag.

But for ease , you can just take readings at the top.
If you’re delivering 300 - 400 par at the top of the tank , your probably fine.
If there’s problems or it’s too much or too little , you just reduce it at the top to 300.

And yea, a deeper tank needs a bit more.

#lux tag (click it) has lots of past posts of folks making use of lux meters. :)
