So what do you think about adding new clowns..

Yes another one of those questions! :D

I have been buying anemones for my 135 with plans of adding a bunch of clownfish. But I can't bare to get rid of the clowns I already have. Do you think it would be safe to add a large group of new clowns?

My clowns now hang in the frogspawn and barely venture out for food.

Don't say no!

It should be ok if they are same species and are much smaller. I added a regular occ. Clown with my black/whites and they just looked at eachother dap'd fins and started a gang!

Yea the new clowns would be babies basically. The current ones are a good 5-6 years old.

I think it might be OK due to the amount of fish but I would have a plan B ready just in case.

What species?

Honestly, even without knowing which species, I see the existing clowns killing the new ones, perhaps not right away, but in time.
Nothing will bring clowns out of their host like another clown(s) for them to attack. After the last time (( about 10 years ago )) watching a pair of clowns kill off another clown (( things can go South very very fast )), I vowed never to keep more than one pair in a tank.

You never know until you try it really. Every fish and every pair is different, yours might love the new company, or might find it fun killing their new neighbors.

The real question is, is it worth the risk to you?

honestly, it's a gamble but I think the odds are in your favor. a 135 is large enough that I doubt your pair considers more than 1/3rd of the tank their territory. They form harems in nature so yeah, same species should be ok with juveniles. But don't introduce a bunch of picassos juveniles to an old occy pair or a bunch of snowflakes to an established perc pair. that would be pushing it.
