Well looks like my sps decided to spawn tonight. I have several hundred small eggs throughout my tank. I assume they are from the sps as the only other thing it could be is an acan hillae.

Any advice on the clean up from this I do not want this to crash the tank. The skimmer does not seem to be working. It's like something has changed the surface tension of the water I even took it apart today to be sure something was not wrong with it. Not sure if this was a warning or just coincidence.

I tested pretty much everything except nitrite and calcium and all are perfect. So as far as I can tell this was not brought on by something bad. I will keep my fingers crossed and see how it goes over the next few days to be sure then I will be excited about it. I guess I am a little on the paranoid side tonight. LOL

Here are some pics.

Thats too cool, something spawned in my tank 3 times last week and left this gunk that gathered at the surface of the water. It made my chalices slime up (or maybe that was spawn on them?) and I ended up using a net to get the majority of it out. I assume it was from my snails.

Well it looks ok this morning I changed the filter socks and took a few pics. I figure it has to be Fish, LPS, and SPS eggs.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Maybe a little oxygen depletion. Should not be any ill effects IMO.

Awesome, congrats.

Change your socks out daily until water clears and perform some extra water changes as well, you'll be fine.

+1 You don't even have to really pull that stuff out. Your tank looks pretty stable and healthy. It usually can take the extra bio-load. You can always do a water change in a week to help it out.

Well someone said on my home site that the corals in the Gulf usually spawn 7 to 10 after the full moon in August. So maybe thats what brought this on.

I tested for a ammonia spike and so far so good. I changed the filter socks twice and the skimmer finally started working again so hopefully I am in the clear.

+2 on not worrying too much. WC and maybe some carbon if you're worried. Did you save any of the eggs to see what they do? I've not had spawning yet (except for clams and that's not always a good respsonse), but would love to see eggs develop (or try to help them do so, anyway). Something about a whole gaggle of tiny tiny baby coral makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
