Only have a 15 gallon, so a pail of salt should last me years. Anyone seen issues with using a bucket for extended time?

Close the bag tight when you're done, and don't let any moisture near it, and it should be fine IMO

As long as moisture doesn’t get near it and it’s in a container or bag where nothing can get in? You will be fine

The concern is that salt gets very hard when moisture gets in. As long as you can dissolve it and alk is ok, it is ok to use.

On a tank that size I would probably just buy the bags and store what's left in a Tupperware container or similar. I've had some clump up in buckets even sealed and I'm using it faster than you will be. Just a theory but I think when the salt level in the bucket starts getting low the extra air contains enough moisture/humidity to cause the clumping.

I just couldnt pass up a bucket at $44 of reef crystals

I kept dry salt for years before using, just cracked open a bucket today. It is fine, just make sure the bucket is air tight. Put any bags into buckets, etc.
