These little weird green things popped up in my tank and I have been looking for what they are, but can't find them. They are kind of squishy, the white at the base is chalky, and they don't sting me (always good news!). They have been there for several months and haven't seemed to harm anything. Any ideas? Maybe sponges?

Wow, I've never seen anything like that before. Looks like green cheetos, haha.

It looks like your rock is still fairly new, so I'd nuke it if it were me. You don't wanna have to continue fighting that as your tank grows.

have them in my tank.. a fellow reefer told my a lower phosphate algae??? i never was to concerned

Thanks for the great information! It looks exactly like the Neomeris annulata. I'm going to leave it and see how it grows for now, it doesn't seem to be harming anything

It's definitely neomeris annulata. pm divecj about this. He thought is was cool when it first popped up in his tank. He battled it for a year and finally had to take down his entire tank because it completely took over. It grew like crazy and he could not keep it under control. When he tried to remove them, they simply popped back up.

I had a grouping of 5 or 6 in my old 72g years back. They hung out for a couple of years without spreading so I left them alone. When everything was transferred to a 125g they ended up disappearing after a month or two.

they SUCK! they survive cooking! if you pull them they spore some more! its not p04 organic its the stuff in the rock, I hate them, hate them, hate them, sorry for the curse youve got and hope it passes quickly
