So my tank has been set up for just over 3 years. It's a thriving mixed reef with a lot of coral. I sell all the time. It's a reefer 525xl. When the klir filters first came out I bought 2 and 3d printed an adapter that worked very well. I played with the height of the sensor a lot to get the best combo of duration without letting the roll sit dirty in the water too long. I noticed a little rise in my no3 and a pretty good rise in phosphates. Decided while I was trying to get this just right I'd run nopox to keep things down. B4 the klir filter I was around 5 nitrates and .02-.03 phosphates. It ent up to 10 nitrates and around .1 phosphates. I neglected to check my water parameters for a couple of months, always did 20% water changes every 2 weeks because everything is looking great.
So 4 days ago I check no3 and it's around 7 but phosphates were around .16. Did a 25% water change and today phosphates are .3.

I also noticed about 2 months ago a pink algae slime in the over flow and in the sump getting caught on cords and stuff. Absolutely nothing in display tank.

I took out the klir filters yesterday and went back to socks to see if this is going to help. I also stopped nopox about a week ago because I feel it wasnt doing anything. Maybe this stopping has caused the spike and it will subside.

So the crazy thing is my corals, all of them, including sps have never looked so good and colorful!!! How can this be at .3 phosphates?? Shouldnt it be detrimental to the acros??

Colors are just popping . Dont notice any I'll effects.

I have to go out of town for 5 days so I threw a 1/2 cup of gfo in a bag and placed it in filter sock. It's about 1/2 of what's recommended.

I will include pictures of pink slime and my current tank.

Beautiful tank!

Phosphates are know to occur at up to .13 in natural reefs with the average being around .03

I imagine the nopox was helping to keep it down - have you noticed any change in the skimmate?

No. It's been the exact color and amount it's always been.

I only used nopox for the last 3-4 months and honestly, because im.out of town a lot and my wife forgets , it probably only got dosed 50% of the days. I was only using 10ml/day.
