Hello, soon I will be upgrading my older sump from redsea with ATO its an acrylic unit. I am looking to setup a sump with a glass tank, and include the skimmer and pretty much anything else I can "hide" in there. Is there someone with extensive knowledge of sumps that I could possibly speak to via PMs or email about what I'll need to get and how to set it up and such. Thanks in advance.

you can look on this site for a bunch of ideas on different ways to set it up,this is all acrylic..i just built my first acrylic sump and its very easy to do if you have a few of the right tools.. Melevsreef.com | Acrylic Sumps & Refugiums...but if not you can still get a bunch of ideas from all the different designs on here

I made one out of a 20 long and it has 3 chambers. First one is skimmer section then return then fuge. My tank drains into skiimer section and fuge. Thwy both drain into return area.

if you have room in the basement, I would use a 55g or a 40g sump down there.

I use a 20G long for my sump. One thing to keep in mind when making a sump out of a 75g tank is that there isnt a whole lot of realestate, especially if you wanna put an in sump skimmer in there. Also watch the skimmer size, the reef octopus 150 barely fits.

is this going to be right under your display or it is going to be in the basement?
do you have space to put the sump? I would say go with the biggest sump if you could fit it.
the bigger the sump, gives you more space for equipments, filtrations and holds more return water (helps on the manual top off).

Great looking sump! With that high of a water level how does it hold up with a power outage? I want to rAise my level but my built in overflow drops like 5 gallons?

I have multiple siphon breaks on my return....maybe puts about a gallon back into the sump. It was all planned.

Is there some type of formula used to calculate what size sump/refugium to use based on tank size?

I'm looking at either a 60 or 93 cube and curious on what size sump/refugium I would need.
