Switching Controllers from Apex to GHL

I have been using GHL since around 2010. When app and the cloud app was introduced - I was very sceptical to use it. Today - more than 95 % of the time I spent on GHL gear is by the web interface. The only thing that´s exclusive for GCC is FW update and virtual probes. Calibration of probes is possible by the web interface/app today. If I do larger changes - I still prefer GCC because you can have more than one window open and check your result that way. GCC is also faster if you want to switch between different options. In some way - the web interface is better - as an example graphs.

Have you ever thought about putting dc batteries between the meanwell units and the powerhub’s. Trying to think of where to put in emergency power for the cutover time to generator?
The white ones on the back are 4 GHL power hubs - the two on the right side are power units for my refugium and for my 740 nm fixture



Never thought of it because power cuts occurs quite rarely where I live. But I think that it could work if you found the right types of batteries/UPS

I'm considering adding a Powerhub 1L. I am trying to recreate the functions of the Hydros Kraken, but for my GHL set up.

I would like to connect a LiFePO4 battery and charger. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

I would connect only 24v devices like GHL Dosers, Versia Flow pumps, etc. Would the LiFePO4 battery have to be 24v or could it be 12 v?

I am a complete novice on electrical. The less splicing I have to do, the better. Can anyone recommend wires/cables?

I was just thinking of this yesterday. I didn’t see the power hub for sale online anywhere.

24 V - However Versia Stream operate at 12V - Versia Flow at 24 V.Much of P4 and its equipment operate at 12 V. However Dosers, KH director and ION director on 24 V DC

I was thinking of the same and purchased the Powerhub, but I haven't had time to tinker with it yet. On both my display tank and my coral stock tanks, I have a Hydros Kraken to power my 24V and 12V GHL devices. It works well!

About the Kraken, if I understand correctly... If the power goes out and the battery kicks in, the Kraken drops to 12V. Sicce pumps don't operate at all for 12V. So, you have to add a voltage step up device.

Yes you can get a 12-24v to 24v DC to DC converter that will work but it is a DIY type of project. I have a Sicce SDC 3.0 and have it powered by my Kraken but have that output set to inactive in low power mode but the pump before was an AC pump and did not run when the power was out. My MP10's work on battery backup and that is the ones that matter during no power events.

I am not sure about the voltage drop for the Kraken. That is a good observation, though.

I have automatic backup generators for my house, so I have not attached a backup battery to the Kraken.

I am running the Versia Flow 9 for my display tank and the Versia Flow 7 for my stock tanks. The Versia Flow series is 24V and has a separate power supply that connects directly to the pump connection. No 12V connection is required for the Versia controller; with this configuration, the controller gets its power in line from the separate 24V power supply.

I am also running the Versia Streams pumps inside the tank and sump. These are 12V, use the Versia controller, and require the 12V power supply connected for each channel used on the controller (there are two channels available).
