Well my Red Sea Sailfin decided to commit suicide via MP40 the other day so I am looking for a new Tang in my 120g. What does everyone recommend? I want to keep the price below $50.

I'd go for a convict tang. IMHO, one of the most underrated tangs available in the hobby, providing a nice contrast within the tank. They're pretty docile, and won't create an issue of aggression with your other fish IME. Here's mine which I unfortunately lost during the 10 power outtage after the blizzard last October:

Don't worry shipping would be free on the gem tang. Go with the convict like Scott said, one of my favorites and they're cheap.

How about a clown tang? I just picked one up and he is gorgeous. They get big so you wouldnt be able to keep him forever, but you could enjoy him for quite awhile!

If you want cheap I'd say go for a yellow, Regal, or Convict tang. If you can bend your budget a bit look into the Achilles or Chevron tangs.

I am thinking of a convict for sure, I have also been considering a flame fin. I wish I could do a Clown but they get large and mean.

You can always go with a Kole Eye, Tomini, or Lavender (brown). Always could get a small naso, but they get big to.

My exp with convicts has sucked!!! Very hard to get to eat in captivity... Rick Martin had like 10 in his 500 gal tank it was great looking school but same thing they all starved to death in a short period of time iirc.... Can't go wrong with a yellow but they can be aggressive.... My favorite is the Achilles but pricey... A yellow belly hippo is really nice also if you find one...

I'm not trying to be the tang police here, but aren't Achiles supposed to be in at least a 6 foot tank if not 8? About 180 gallons? If they're ok in a 4 foot 120 I'm clearing my tank out tonight and buying one. By far my most favorite tang.

Convicts are great if you get them from Hawaii. They are net caught and have to be a minimum of 5". Mine eats like a pig.
