I have a 40g on a wooden cabinet not built for tanks. Inside it’s hollow. No beams. I’m in the process of building a beam for the inside. As per attached pics, does it look sturdy enough to withhold the weight? The wood is about an inch thick all around. Doesn’t wobble. I guess I’m just paranoid. I had a 125g tank crack when I was at work once. Been paranoid ever since.

Can you post a picture of the wood? Do you know if it’s actual wood or particle board? Where did you buy it from?

It’s solid wood. I had it custom made after I got married many years ago. Followed us around. Our bed is made from the same wood and supports our now family of four. Just not sure about all of this water on this without a beam. Also the back wall of it is what looks like pressboard. Sliding doors on a track in the front so no support there either.

First pic is the base. It’s quite sturdy. Second pic is the inside back corner at the top.

I put a wood glue along the edges today and treated the wood with mineral oil to protect from water damage.
