Getting back into the hobby after a long lapse due to kids. Which means I am using some.older equipment. My rodi from BRS was pulled out of storage. I replaced all 3 filters and replaced the RODI resin. My TDS meter is being stubborn and still showing 1 with all of the changeouts. I've never experienced this before. I always only used TDS of 0. Would like some advice. Is it possible the meter itself is old and showing inaccurate readings? What is the harm of a TDS of 1 if it is rating true? Would love community input.

What does it start at? If it’s starting any higher then 50ish ppm then what you are seeing is pretty normal for a three stage. As far as is 1ppm bad it depends what it is. Assuming you’re starting with tap water it is more than likely fine/normal.

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?

  • Yes! I think it's important for the longterm health/growth of my coral.
