After, took about 6 months to recover

I'm right there with you! I lost all my SPS going to this light from a 250w MH.

Also had this piece get baked while sitting on the sand

Flesh just peeled off after a week or so under the T5. BUT! It now has 2 small polyps making a comeback.

Yep also had nice orange acan go totally brown. Well everything bleached, i actually lost 3 chalices that i will never be able to replace.
The positive is. When the corals actually get used to the light the growth is amazing. I always try and caution people with T5s, take your time. You can grow any kind of coral under them.

T-5 will be hard to out due....I will be upgrading my VHO supplementation to T-5 by late summer. I think they are the best thing to have come out in lighting since or even more then MH.

I have to agree. My corals love them now. When you drive by house there is this massive glow coming out of it. It is seriously like a tanning bed.

LOL...When my wife and I first moved in to our house about 6 months after some neighbors across the street came over asking about if we lost our water pressure. Well I had 3 110w VHOs on my tank with out a canopy and at night there was a bright purple light that you could see from down the street. Well We offer him to come in while we check "the water pressure". Well there was nothing wrong with it. He says "ooh that's what all the bright purple light is from, a fish tank" Then he turns around and leaves.....I think he thought we were growing "POT" in the front room......LOL.

I know what you mean. I'm getting some great growth on everything that has adjusted to the light. My zoas have incredible growth, at least a few polyps each week. And the colors on the corals are great as well, i've got a few browned out SPS showing some nice coloring and its happened much faster than IME with MH. Only thing i miss is the shimmer lines.

LOL i get this too. My neighbor would always come over when i was at home, knock on the door for whatever he thought up, and about midway thru the conversation ask if we were smoking weed. I'm sure it was the bright blue lighting coming out of the house.

People who say T5s are not bright enough have no clue what they are talking about. I think the parabolic reflectors are over kill. As you see i have all kinds of corals in my tank.
I run my lights for 10 hrs. 2 blue+ from 2pm-4pm and 10pm-12am. 2 aquablue and 1 ge 6500k and 1 blue+ from 4pm-10pm.
Running all 6 bulbs at the same time is way to much. I will put up a pic of what happened to my Mycedium and all my corals when first got my Tek T5

What are the blue+ and the aquablues? I know what the GE 6500K are, but I'm not sure about the others. Where do you get your bulbs from?
I have T-5's on my 40 breeder, and I'm not sure I have the right mixture. Your corals look awesome, so if you could give a little more detail about the specific bulbs, I would be very thankful.

They're ATI bulbs, I use them as well and got mine from reefgeek.com.

Sorry for the delay. But Ike is right. Reefgeek is the best place to order from IMO. I have actually heard a lot of good stuff about UVL super actinic, I am going to switch out one of my Blue+ for one of them just to see.

Thanks alot guys. I went to reefgeek.com and found the bulbs. I went ahead and ordered 2 of the blue+, I already have actinic and daylight bulbs.

I am going to try your lighting setup and schedule. I am having a problem with slime algae. My Nitrates are 0 and phosphate is 0. I have a 40 gal. breeder with 8- T-5 bulbs (4- actinic and 4- 12000K). I have been running all 8 bulbs for 14 hours a day.

I think I have been running too much light for way too long. Maybe this could have something to do with my algae problem....and a few corals loosing color.

I also have a few Zoos that don't open up like when I first got them. Could that be from too much light also?

What do you guys think, am I on the right track?

Greg at Reefgeek handled my order very well- I will be buying from him again. I bought 4 bulbs and they were packed the best I have ever seen- no breakage.
