The 40 gallon was fun but the saga must continue. My wife and I bought our first house back in 2019 and I began planning this tank around that time. Our new house however, had other plans... Having been in the trades for many years we settled on a fixer-upper so naturally, repairs took precedence over the fish tank. Now that I have a house with solid floors it’s finally time for an upgrade. We just redid our back living room this winter from the framing up to accommodate the new tank. I sistered the floor joists under the tank location to be safe, added some bracing, extra bridging, and went with tile for ease of cleanup. Here’s a few pics of the start of my sca 150.

Equipment is pretty typical and will be:
1 xr30 blue
2 xr15 blue
Haven’t decided on whether to buy the ecotech mounting rail or pick up a used aquatic life 48”. They’re about the same price.
39” trigger sump
Trigger 10 gallon ato reservoir
Tunze ato
Waterbox aluminum stand w/ plywood top. ( I like a good leaning ledge)
2x mp40
Aqua uv 25w
Jaboe dc 15k plumbed externally
Pair of jager 250w on inkbird
Apex 2016
Deltec skimmer
Vipar spectra 165w for fuge/ frag area light
Bubble magus dosing pump for now but I’m leaving space for cal reactor in stand.

Starting to dry fit some plumbing with a little help from our cat Annabelle. She loves the new stand. Parts are slowly starting to trickle in.

Been making a little progress with the build in the past week. Ran a dedicated 20 amp cafci circuit with a gfci receptacle last night for piece of mind. Also built my fixture and added about 20 coats of varathane to it and the top of my stand. Modular Marine also built me a sweet overflow box! A new g6 xr30 will be going in the middle of the fixture. My g5 went down last month and Ecotech upgraded me! Went with nico bar uv strips, they look like they’ll match up with the radion blues perfectly. Cats are seemingly not phased by all of this blue.

Tank arrived this week and I spent the better part of the weekend plumbing and cementing the scape. Huge thanks to @Gardnaaa for helping lug this thing in and up on to the stand!!
Also picked up the new ai blade fuge light.

Added a few fish and corals over the last couple months. Also started the tank on reef moonshine.

Never thought I'd say it, but it's time to take a break. I wanted to share a few of the final pictures I took of my reef! Also, a picture of myself and Julian Sprung, whom I had the pleasure of meeting this past year!
