That's 118ppm alk, not 18 dkh...
Calc: 380
Mag: too high to test
I just tested my tank too!

Calcium 480
Alk 8.4
Phosphate 0.34
Nitrate too high to test
Magnesium 1210 :astonished-face::oops:

Well in my second tank I just got 1.56 Phosphate and Nitrate off the chart. All the carbon dosing, GFO and lanthium chloride and my values go up…

Id rather have high mag than nitrates. But I too have started carbon dosing but haven't noticed a change. I should ge an auto doser. shame I didn't win one at the last club meeting.

Ah well. Big water change being prepared.
I should do that this weekend...

I have a doser I haven't even set up yet. :grimacing-face::grimacing-face::grimacing-face: Automated things intimidate me. I prefer dumping and saying a prayer method.
the issue for me is the remembering to dump.

my alk dosing is just a healthy squeeze from the bottle into the flow.

I only think about feeding on a daily basis. its freeing.
I think about feeding daily, act on that most but not all of the time.
I just use baking soda and hope to remember about every other day.
I made a solution of baked baking soda (don't use the air frier on the bake setting for this, it acts as a convection oven and will make a mess you then need to clean up) and water.

I actually bumped my vinegar up yesterday.

I've got a doser with 4 heads but two of them are used for keeping my overflow U-Tubes primed.

I doubled the dose yesterday too, then forgot today's morning 10ml. so oops

So I'm trying to wrap my head around @Randy Holmes-Farley's diy dosing method. so far I got:
part 1) 395g (maybe that's the number) baked baking soda, aka. soda ash pr gallon
part 2) calcium chloride in solution. what's the ration though and will this (https://www.homedepot.com/p/50-lb-C...ickid=RBzXrUws:xyPWFzxw:UL1VKgUkFWwUXQ6WxOWc0) work over spending more for 7# through brs?
part 3) this https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petco...74132c95d3cc12dfd87a498ed7e63c16&gclsrc=3p.ds mixed 8 scoops pr gallon.

all dosed 1:1:1.
