hey @Katrina71 how's it been? everything doing well?
@Fin how's the clean up still?
@fishguy242 you doing any crazy coral cartel runs today?
@LadyMac keep 2 of ur current marine lens (you have 3 right?) and put one on the front and one on the back so u can have ramping like @alimac122 did
My pile keeps getting bigger. I still have a Crepe Myrtle tree to cut down and throw on top. Pic doesn’t really have the same impact as staring at this all day out of the front windows. There are over 300 dual bin trash trucks out every day picking this debris up but they haven’t really put a dent in it yet.

wow that's an impressive amount of debris. glad stuff is coming back to normal :) I remember my 4 y/o self running around the neighborhood with a chain saw and my dad clearing trees from Wilma. that cat 3 had a hard hit. it took us a week to move the trees just to get out of the driveway. couldn't leave the neighborhood for over a month. that was when we lived more west in the everglades.

Hubbs said to wait on any new fixtures for now. He’s not comfortable with having that much going on, and is already blinded by the way the currents sit. Also “Don’t you have enough issues and money in that right now?”
So yeah. :(

No idea. It’s my first one. I was told it may be flow, and I do have some powerheads on the way just in case. I’ll message current USA and see if they can give me tips on the light settings just in case.

No idea on params, tank itself turned a year old on Sept 26th. The rock work and sand is about three. (I need a test kit too...) blues won’t go up any and when I turn whites up I get cyano. I’m slowly getting the hair algae under control still.

I don’t know if this helps...
But I have a rock flower nem (wanted a tester before I got a BTA) and it’s doing phenomenal.

but as I said before this is only on the front.
My vipar is now set to 55% blues and 15% whites. Been slowly creeping up the last 3 months

This is mine, and I have the regular orbit on a custom setting as well. The orbit isn’t a pro, it’s just the original model.its on 100% blue and I think 50% white. I wish I could find a small enough screwdriver. I could take the splash guards off and maybe cleaning those would help.

Me personally—-
I would swap your daylight numbers a little. The white shouldn’t be 0 during the day. And red seems a little high.
looking at the emittance of sunlight during the day NORMAL (average) conditions IR is highest at sunset and sunrise and there is little to no IR during the day, that’s when UVA and UVB are highest... which you’ll see mimic in white.

turn ur greens and reds WAYYY down and increase that white. you don't need 50% reds on sunset and u do need high whites during the day.

How much higher? Keep in mind I have another fixture that I am using the whites with. You can kinda see the fixtures here.

slowly adjust them. idk maybe to around 50% over the period of a week or 2. @alimac122 would know more about them. I used to run my ai prime hd at 50% over my 10g

I hate to say this, but looking at your tank and you saying its over a year old... you need to find a way to purchase that Vipar...

I dont know if you are taking a photo with the iphone, but even so this looks too blue IMO. (but also seeing your daylight numbers it makes sense)

When looking at the tank in person, your tank shoudnt "look" blue. Unless you just like the bottle of windex look. But, with that will sacrifice some growth.

From my personal research (and watching BRSTV investigates) CurrentUSA is great for nano--small tanks. Once we get to the 50g range, it just cant put out the PAR that is necessary for coral growth, and in this instance more is not better.

In regards to adjusting your numbers to try and see how that will help with the nem, there is no need to ramp the red & green. Immediately crank those babies down to 0-5% for daylight. They can be present in the daylight and sunset, but chances are your room ceiling lights will give off enough to supplement what is needed. With your red and green being higher this could also have been some of the issues with your algae outbreak. Chlorophyll loves the red/green spectrum (ie why you see 'grow' lights as purple-ish-- they are mostly blues but have a larger abundance of reds too). So if you want to naturally inhibit algal growth, red and green are the first to go.

With the white, and me personally using the CurrentUSA, you could start with 10% whites and be just fine. Keeping blue at 100%. White on the Current is not as intense as other black box LEDs that have vents on them. The slim design of the Current has the CON of limiting output as to not overheat the system. Because, even though they are LEDs, they are still light and light will always emit heat because it is never 100% efficient.

So, for your new light settings,
Blue-100%
White-5-10%
Red- 0-10%
Green- 0% (I dont even know why green is on here TBH, i wish current would have integrated a UV instead or a different wavelength of blue).

This slight adjustment to the front and back should help with the corals as well as the nem. I know the nem is of upmost concern but this should benefit all.

progessively up the white by 1-2% weekly until you get to 20-30%

This isnt the CurrentUSA, but it is a visible wavelength to try and help explain why green is just blasphemy and should never be put on a customization.

This was as the lights were going down. It doesn’t look that blue irl but yes iPhone. It was just a pic showing the three lights together :) this is a little closer to how it actually looks but again, not as blue
