Wow! Those numbers are a bit surprising

Not sure as we noticed some numbers just seemed off from their position counterpart and we could not figure out why. We made sure that all points were measured the same regardless. Thanks for posting that. Any guess as to why the Kessil is so even in 3 corners an 20 points up in the 4th?
Are you able to easily get averages for those numbers? I can do it if you can’t.Not sure as we noticed some numbers just seemed off from their position counterpart and we could not figure out why. We made sure that all points were measured the same regardless.
If you would like to please do as I am too tired and thank you.Are you able to easily get averages for those numbers? I can do it if you can’t.

I have a set of Radion's and with the way the LED's are set up in it I get similar readings on the sides and back of 2x2x4 tank. Each =watt led puts out different par based on its color and it shows up on your edges if you don't have a perfect mixture of lights. Reflected light off the walls boosts my PAR, it is good, but it is almost random. When I had Kessil's the light spread was way more consistent on front back, corners and sides. I thought it was from the more consistent light color mixture. The readings make sense to me. A 30 point shift could be bad color mix in that corner, or some random reflection like light bouncing back on lens of the light its self. Dust or a scratch on the light source could do it. Too many possibilities. I just wanted to check in and hear if he noticed anything out of ordinary for the Kessil. For what it is worth, I have a tank that is painted 18% (photo) grey on the back and I didn't think it would change my light reflection/PAR readings much, but they went down to where I think there is no reflection at all.Someone started above but I lost the post about the inconsistency near the edges. " ~the light reflects off the sides of the glass which is unpainted "
I would think that this reflection or lack there of would be the same in all tests assuming the use of the same tank in all tests.
Got them!

Feel free to check my math, I may of missed one.
I Am super surprised by these numbers/averages.I have a set of Radion's and with the way the LED's are set up in it I get similar readings on the sides and back of 2x2x4 tank. Yes painting kills light that should reflect back in.....For what it is worth, I have a tank that is painted 18% (photo) grey on the back and I didn't think it would change my light reflection/PAR readings much, but they went down to where I think there is no reflection at all.
Which lights did you get?I Am super surprised by these numbers/averages.
I am really looking forward to my coral growth under these!

I think we are so excited to see how coral will grow under these it is time for the ULTIMATE test for the K1. Since I am also helping the owner @ The Coral Reef get new frag tanks and mother colony tanks built we need to put lights on them, SO hey @noopsyche we need to order 50 K7 PROII lights to start with!!!!! This would serve 2 things, it will help get some decent lighting over the new tanks and give this study a real look at growth/color.I Am super surprised by these numbers/averages.

I haven't forgot why this thread was started, so as for studying as many low cost Chinese Black Box
lights as we can. I have been given permission to use a whole other set of tanks to test the various Black Box lights and continue this study with the ideas brought about by you guys.
Thanks,
Matt
I would definitely be interested in a group buy. I think one of their lights would do well over my 20 gal long frag tank [emoji16] those test result numbers are pretty good!Whoa! That's a pretty hefty order! It brings to mind a thought; since you're going to order 50 maybe there are other members who want to place orders and that order can be increased to 100 or who knows how many. Perhaps Noopsyche will be willing to give a discounted price for a group buy. Just a thought.
Also, unless I missed something, I thought the lights were Noopsyche K7 Pro II lights. Did they release a "K1" light or something? (Although I've been known for occasionally being a wise guy that not the case here. Simply looking for clarification.)
I hope that 50 will get a big discount as we like them for putting on many 10in tall frag tanks. So we are going to see one way or another how well they do.Whoa! That's a pretty hefty order! I mistakenly put K1 instead of K7 so it was a typo. I am so exhausted that my bad language skills are far worse.
Not trying to be rude, but if you read through the topic so far, the tests on any black boxes have not been done yet. What are the par rating on the 2018 lights from China as I actually have these on my 75gal mixed. I don't have a par meter, but everything seems to be doing ok, I seem to get more greens and blues than reds and pinks. Have them set around 10" above water, 100% blue/60% whites .
