What is that one? I kinda need one.Well, I’ve been a bit MIA again - I’ll be updating my 100l nano thread later (It’s not the best news you’d ever want to hear…).
I’ve mainly been MIA due to the shop taking a lot of my time up - I’m rarely around the tanks anymore, which is how I managed to miss my 100l.
But, anyway! Enjoy my DTF in partial display - I don’t know if I’ve shown this photo or not, but oh well!

Color of this flasher is a lot better in low light environment. We have too much light in our reef tanks to bring out the best color of this species.Well, I’ve been a bit MIA again - I’ll be updating my 100l nano thread later (It’s not the best news you’d ever want to hear…).

They typically adjust over a couple of weeks to the current lighting (time) zone.Any tips on adjusting the bedtime of halichoeres wrasses? My canary wrasses head to bed a little too early so I can only catch them out in the mornings. As it stands they head to bed at around 4pm so they’re long gone by the time I get back from work.
This one's on my list.![]()
Got 3 of them. Still small but growing pretty good. Wound up splitting one off to another tank.
The first issue you’ll find will be that melanurus - she will become boisterous and quite quickly, which unfortunately means you will struggle to have Leopards (Macrophayrngodon) or other Halichoeres species. The thread has ruined me.
It has completely changed my stocking plans.
I have a 50g cube with a 20g sump and an 8g refugium.
Currently have:
2 x zebra dartfish
1 x melanurus
Thinking about:
1 x radiant
1 x pintail
1 x exquisite
1 x blue star leopard
1 x naoko
1 h. Chrysis
These guys are beautiful for sure![]()

Bummer. I thought haliocheres were mellow. For the fairies, they rely on dimensions, and if I remember correctly it’s a 2 foot cube? So you’ll likely only find the Exquisite or Pintails to work as the Naokoae will want more room to swim.

Ive had some amazingly behaved Mels in the LFS, and larger tanks but I find in smaller tanks long term they get a bit bossier towards others.Typically...
I may be the only exception but I'm the exception!
The chrysus is mellow. I think you can do the chrysus and the leopards without an issue. The naoko can be aggressive. The problem I see is the isosceles which can be very timid. When stressed they tend to dart around the tank until they find a place to hide. Not as much an issue in a 4-6’ tank with two separate bommies. In your tank I would say just the chrysus, isosceles, and a leopard or two. My $.02Bummer. I thought haliocheres were mellow. The radiant is the only one on my must have list.
