here is sump a bit ago. It will look similar once I get all back in there. Minus black sand and add the scrubber.

Is that the one who swam in your pocket?

They are a great looking wrasse. They can be very skittish especially when transporting. I had one e in my observation tank for several months and was moving it to my display using one of the small 2 gallon Lowe's buckets. It shot I to the side and broke its back. I recommend transporting only in a bag or net Inside a bucket to prevent injuries. They are a mild mannered Wrasse. Post a pic when you get it
Ok, thanks for the advice! I definitely will post a picture when it gets here!

Yup. Went after the mysis I had to bait them into the net lol. Kinda funny tbh. Family friendly forum, so not gonna make a joke on it lol.

Took the three hour drive to the LFS yesterday.........

Since the southwest delays and recent winter storm in our area I was told they haven't had a shipment of fish in a couple weeks, so not much there. He did have a very nice nakaoe fairy, a slippery dick(my wife got a kick out of that name), and blue star leopard, but none of them are on my list. Did almost walk out with a long finned clown(my wife likes these abominations!), but didn't.

Did try to pick up the new hanna magnesium checker, but apparently he misunderstood me and I only got a reagent pack. Didn't realize it until I was half way home. LOL Will have to buy one online since i have a reagent pack.

Anyways, we got to shooting the isht as there was no one in the place, and I mentioned I've been looking for a chaoti(while in amazement iof his rather large kuiteri). He was actually just doing his fish list, and mentioned there was 3 on his suppliers list. Said he would take the risk and order me one. But just one as it's a huge risk($$) for him if the fish dies. Fingers crossed I may have a chaoti in a couple weeks.

So our wrasses worked all their issues out finally. The Melanaurus was giving the pintail and Lubbocks a rough time.

So we now have:
Melanaurus
Yellow Corris
Lubbocks Fairy
Pintail

Looking to still add an Orange Back Fairy, Leopard, and Flasher of some sort. Would these all work?

10 days has done a lot for my lunatus. Fuller color and has gained a belly:

And as always more of the Leopard:

well i think i lost my first wrasse...and i mean literally lost.

my hooded has been missing for 7 days now, have evidence of her on the tank camera just before lights out but no signs since, except a bump in nitrates....sucks becuase she was not only my first wrasse but one of the first fish in my tank.

i think there is a chance my orangeback has gone aggressive male, does anyone have a good pic/way to distinguish a male vs female c. aurontidorsalis?

Almost spit my coffee out when you called the long finned clown an abomination, lol!

Male vs Females of Cirrhilabrus auranridorsalis can be hard to identify in comparison to other Cirrhilabrus species. A photo of yours (if possible) will be better to help us :)

Got a new wrasse, C. Exquisitus, from Dr. Reef. Don't remember who on here recommended but its looking great:

So African male?
Really have no idea how you determine this stuff??

They remind me of freshwater fish bit abomination works
They do! Almost like one of those "fancy goldfish", lol. (Full disclosure, I love me some freshwater fish... but I do think the long finned clowns are hideous. No offense to the long finned clown lovers out there). :face-with-hand-over-mouth::rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Look in their eyes and say that
But... but... how? :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: (In all seriousness though, going off on a tangent on fancy golfish for a minute: I fell down a rabbithole on youtube once where I watched a guy trim the bubbly stuff on his designer goldfish's face away from its eyes with scissors - literally so it can see where it's going - like it's no big deal... "We want them to have these bumpy faces but it grows over their eyes so we just give their face skin a trim every now and then!") :face-with-open-mouth:

*PSA: Long finned clown & fancy goldfish fans, I mean no harm - I think my lawnmower blenny is adorable because he's "so ugly he's cute", so I can't talk, lol!

It’s a lot to do with the lining around the pectoral fins as well as the dorsum saddles. A Pacific Variant will have a red outline on the pectoral fins and they also have few red markings covering their face which makes their blue markings much more obvious. The Indian variants have an incomplete lateral line marking which is limited to the caudal area whilst Pacific variants have the completed lateral line marking.

I find this fascinating - years of keeping freshwater fish (and breeding some) made me feel like fish were so easy to sex. Then I discover marine fish, not so easy! Like, I can get paired clownfish by their behavior... but my yellow tang for instance? I just refer to it as "she" for no actual obvious reason, other than I got tired of all my fish having male names and wanted to switch it up, lol. Males of any species typically being more brightly colored helps a little... but it really takes an educated eye for sure, and still isn't always the case! Seems like there are much clearer size and fin shape differences, etc for sexing freshwater fish.
