The males constantly get heat thrown at them because the females are seen as prettier but your male just shows that’s not always the case. Beautiful specimen!

My Chloropterus finally emerged today!
He’s slowly having a green tint instead of that bright green of the females and juveniles.
I miss when this guy was only 1 inch and only 1/2 an inch larger than the iridis. Now he’s a 4ish inch and the iridis is 4.5 almost 5 inches.

Had my pintail jump monday night. Found him all dried out and crunchy on the floor behind my tank last night. :(

I did see him monday at feeding time, so I would assume he jumped sometimes monday night.

No idea, he has never even attempted to jump anytime before, and no one harasses him. He did seem to spend quite a bit of time hanging out in my rather large colony of stylo thats right at the top of the water. So I would assume something spooked it, and it found the tiny gap(less then 1 inch!) at the back of the net top. It's happened before and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It's the gap from using the clip on lid holders for rimless tanks.

The part I find just a bit funny..... The front has the same gap, but I have never had a fish jump out the front of the tank, always in the back where you never find them till they are fish jerky.

I think there is actually a way to Sex Pseudocheilinops ataenia!
In the first paragraph, the last sentence says what a male should look like.

“Pronounced Yellow Lines down the body and Bluish Grey Markings on the gill cover”

I then put this on my pair and only one so far shows those colour markings (Albeit I didn’t see the second that well, maybe once my acros grow I’ll see them more often).
I will say my largest is around 1 inch now, they’re still rather young so I wouldn’t say I have a definite pair and the largest is likely to be transitional still.

My first guy however, he definitely showed those characteristics of a male. And generally when wrasses are alone they tend to transition to males anyway.

Just added this gorgeous splendid leopard yesterday. Looked for a spot in the sand and I haven't seen it since. Hopefully it makes it. Our PBT we had at the time I think killed our first attempt. Hopefully now with it gone it helps.

I only worry about the Melanaurus now as it can be testy at first with new wrasse additions.

Also, is the "yellow and purple" wrasse the same as a yellow coris? Our coris has been missing for a week now and I personally think it's a goner. Looking to possibly replace it if so, and want another coris or this yellow and purple.

Currently have Melanaurus, Lubbock fairy, Pintail fairy, and Splendid leopard. Would the yellow and purple be OK with those?

So im looking to add some more wrasse. I got a 90 gallon (4foot long) with 40 gallon sump. Sand bed is roughly 2-3 inches, depending on what my go by and shrimp are at on that day. I do have a clouded wrasse (halichoeres nebulosus) in there currently. I have a small 6 line im in the process of getting out. Once out I want to add more peaceful and colorful REEF Safe wrasses. I currently have polys, few zoas and a couple bubble tips.

Have roughly 200lbs ish of rock as well.

Would like some suggestions of wrasses to add that won't break the bank. Looking for under $100 per fish.

They should though sometimes Halichoeres don't like other Halichoeres
