They naturally occur in harems and as females are generally the most peaceful wrasses with others. Still a little unpredictable tho.
I had a group of 5 females at one time. I did find a body once. Never knew where the other 2 ended up.
So the 2 males have been together 7-8 years. One of them was in transition for the longest time, but they are nearly identical now. I'd like to add some bipartitus females, maybe 2. But I don't want to break up the bromance they have going.

i cant think

Oh. I was curious. Are Choatis still impossible?
Based on where you are located their care varies.

In Australia they’re a “beginner” Leopard due to them being native. For us, if you can get them settled and past the shipping stress (which IME can last for up to 2 months). If you want to try them, start by delving into Vivienae and Negrosensis, and if you can possibly Cyanoguttatus (but they’re more difficult to source). Choati I have also found to settle in better with other leopards around them, rather than when they’re on their own.

Okay! Thanks for your help!

I wish I could get my fairies and flashers to thrive - I seem to have bad luck with them but my sand sleepers are loving life!

If I could work out why flashers/fairies don’t work for me and fix it, I’d have a johnsoni and diamond tail that’s for sure. Your johnsoni is gorgeous.

That's a magazine photo, there!

Thank you. He just sort of came up to the glass to say hi. They're so much easier to photo when they're not darting about.

These are my two favorite fish in the system currently. The johnsoni has a personality that I really enjoy. Not sure if you know, but what do you think affects your success with these fish?

A little about my system in case it sheds any light. The system is fairly peaceful which helps with all of the fish, I do my best with introductions to preserve compatibility and this is important for reducing stress and improving the resilience of all the fish. I have some purple anthias that require frequent feeding. I have an auto feeder that feeds freeze-dried mysis to the system three times per day and I additionally feed frozen food once or twice a day. Although the frequency of feeding is really intended for the anthias, all of the fish benefit from frequent small feedings. My system is also dominated by acropora and as a result has good water flow throughout the system. I observe many of the fish regularly swaying and swimming into the current.

Don't the fairy and flashers sleep in a mucus cocoon in live rock?
Do you have a lot of good live rock sleeping stations?

Here's a current photo of the tank. I recently removed several Acro colonies and am in the process of growing out some new pieces and as a result much more open. The tank measures 84 x 34 x 27 with approximately 330 gallon/ 1250 liters. It has abundant rock and coral structures.

The johnsoni pair sleep together on one of the rock structures. I have various euphyllia that sit on the sand bed, and many of the remaining fairy and flashers sleep in a cocoon within the skeletal structures of these corals.

This is my rock structure - Plenty of caves and hiding spots for both my small and large fish.

I think my main issue is all down to I have an Aquamarinus, Laboutei, and Lineatus as the fairies/flashers who are quite dominant.
I try to keep the system peaceful (obviously the wrasses have their own small squabbles evert now and then) due to having the Leopards, Pencils and planning for Tamarins eventually. I have thought if it was feeding however I feed 2-3 times a day as a minimum, often going to 4 feeds.

My system is also dominated by acropora and as a result has good water flow throughout the system. I observe many of the fish regularly swaying and swimming into the current.
This was my other thought, the amount of movement needed but much like you, I have Acros within the system and my Torches hate the flow being too low. So I aim for random but moderate-high flow.
