The Wrasse Lover's Thread!

I've tried flame, rhomboid, and labouti once before but lost each one of them shortly after qt and releasing into display from bladder issues. -____-' For those that have flames, would you a recommend pair over a single in a wrasse dominant tank?
I wouldn't pair any Cirrhilabrus, In the wild they live in large harems. A pair in an aquarium is likely to end badly

So not much reason to pay higher for male, because females typically turn male anyway?
Bingo.
With an understanding of two caveats: there's a small chance it won't ever turn male, and sometimes you won't end up with as nice (colorful) of a male than if you had purchased one.

In a 120 , will a pink streaked wrasse introduced first be ok with Labout's, Hoeven's, Black cap basslet, flameback angel, flamehawk, and chocolate tang, or not a good idea?

You'll be fine. The pink streak and the basslet will occupy the same "zone", but the tank is plenty big enough for them to stay out of each others way.

Hi,

i currently have a 6line wrasse, a blue spot leaopard wrasse and a labouti wrasse.
I might be able to get my hands on a rhonboid wrasse or a mauritius mystery wrasse(dispilus) , would their be a compatibility problem ?

thanks

david

Pseudocheilinus wrasses do not mix with other wrasses. Therefore, the mystery wrasse is a definite no, and the sixline you already have is unfortunately highly likely to be a problem in the future.

Thanks Evolved. I assume a Possum wrasse in lieu of a pink streaked, would also work in the 120 setting?

Anyone know of any ways to get my wrasse to be less shy? I have not seen him much and have no idea where he hides to feed him
That's a sign of a bully - that's not normal. What all is in the tank for fish, and how large is the tank?

It's a melanaurus wrasse and it's in a 40 long with a coral beauty. The angelfish never bothered him but ever since I put the wrasse in it just went hiding. I put him in 2 days ago and my parameters are what to be expected, a small amount of nitrates but everything else is 0. He didn't have any diseases or sicknesses as far as I'm concerned.

Halichoeres wrasses can bury for up to 2 weeks upon introduction. Leave it be for now and he'll make an appearance when he's ready.
