84??!!! Cripes you make it sound like I was there for the Crucifixion! HAHAHA
Vintage 1968 :) I'm 57, but I been into Computer Gaming since the mid 1990's. I paid Monthly Sub Fees to AOL in the $Hundreds :(

Lol I was too stingy to pay for AOL, I used NetZero free. I recall I had to deal with a giant banner on my tiny screen.

AOL was out a number of years before Net Zero. In '95, I do not think Net Zero had been out but AOL had already been around for about 4-5 years, at that point.

That's true, we had a trial that came with our Windows 95 machine in 1995 but I don't remember if we paid for AOL. I had a DOS machine before that with 5.25" floppy, now that was something else.

I have a rubbermaid stock tank if you need one. Lmk.
Thanks!

I not risk it. Bracing or not.

Can you pick up a stock tank and transfer everything to it? Either a Rubbermaid or something similar. I see them, all the time, listed on FB Marketplace. Although, I do not know what the listings are like where you live.
That's actually a darn good idea. I have a 40g and 100g stock tanks here. Lights, canister and hob filters, heater etc all laying around. It would give me an excuse to spend more time in the basement which is always a plus having my Gals elderly mother with dementia living with us since she can't climb stairs lol. I could then take my time and maybe cut some of the sticks and move a few into the 330 and see how they do. I always loved the top down view of the fish and coral when I did have a stock tank running. I could even add the contents of the 40g breeder that I use for observation/ grow out and have one less tank to take care of.
I think I see a possible plan forming. Summer isn't too far off and the basement stays nice and cool. I recently set up a spare 65" TV with a Roku for streaming and I even have my old gaming PC stored. There's an electric recliner, running water and a small fridge in storage. Only thing missing is a toilet but I have a sump crock for liquid disposal🤣

Sounds like you've got yourself a winning ticket right there!

(Sorry to hear about your lady's mom. That is a rough experience. My mom has dementia and it's not easy or fun for anyone.)

I figured you for a younger buck with that zippy looking Subaru and all. Then again, @tharbin is tooling around in a Porsche.

He's got me beat but yes, 36 but my back says I'm older, doctor says I have arthritis in my lower back already and I can't get up in the morning without a muscle relaxant.

Bad memories. I remember installing windows (maybe 3.1?) using a stack of 3.5 inch floppies. And now Blue Ray disks are already obsolete. Times are changing so quickly.

Yeah 3.1 was the thing, we had those on our middle school machines with Oregon Trail but we managed to get Doom on there.

I think most of us are old enough to be your dad. So, you better respect us. Otherwise, we'll kick you in the lower back.

(Sorry to hear of your back issues. That really sucks. Back troubles are no joke. If you ever need an outstanding back surgeon, I have a friend who is one of the best. However, he's in Phoenix but that's still not too far from you.)

Computer weren't yet a thing when I was in school, pencil and paper baby. Keyboard class used actual typewriters with red and black ribbon. I remember how smoothly the keys were when my Mom got an electric typewriter lol. What I wouldn't give to return to those times for a do over.

I think I need to wait until the kids are a bit older and stop beating me up so it's worth going the surgical route 🤣

Ya that's a tad before my time lol! We used Mavis Beacon typing program in school.

Well it turns out the reefer 300 is under warranty. I must have registered it for the extra 3 years of coverage when I bought it. I have to find the receipt and send the requested information with images etc before RS determines if it's eligible for replacement or if I have to wait until it leaks lol. If they replace it I'll probably be stupid and just swap the tanks and keep my fingers crossed. I know its not the most intelligent move but it would be the least amount of work and probably result in less coral loss/ damage. Financially it would be a win. Heck maybe a replacement tank will outlast me. Even if it fails in the future having the stock tanks and gear laying around like I do and the fact I'm not worried about the floors would just make it a big inconvenience not a catastrophe.
I'm going to go ahead and move some SPS frags over to the 330 just to see how they do. If they do well and I don't move everything over I can use them as backup in case of a loss in the 300. I replaced two of the supports on the light bracket and mounted the photon 24 that was on 40g breeder in the basement to replace 2 of the noops. I used an old hydra 26hd to take the place of the photon on the 40. I love having extra gear laying around.
I haven't cleaned up yet but I think it will work out well. I just swapped out the two end pieces of 80 20 for longer ones and slid the photon on. I can even add another photon or additional light if needed.

This is the third time I've started a build thread so we'll see if I succeed. The first one my badge disappeared so I did another and sure enough my badge disappeared again. I didn't bother restoring the badges because I figured it was punishment for me being so poor at updating the threads :thinking-face: I'll try to do better this time but no promises ;) If this one disappears I'll take that as a sign.

New Tank is a Waterbox LX 330.7 I was going to go custom with a basement sump but decided I really didn't feel like doing the plumbing plus I'm getting tired of running up and down the stairs, sump is currently in the basement. I went with Waterbox because I was able to get the exact size I wanted. I really wanted at least 7ft of length and especially wanted the 30 inch front to back depth. The total height is more than I wanted but it was compromise or go full custom.

I want to keep my rodi storage and mixing station in the basement so figuring out how to keep that there and get water to the first floor will be part of the build. I'll be transferring most of the stuff from my 180g to the new tank. I'll do a full equipment list later.

Current tank that will be replaced

In with the stand. I was able to use the tractor to get it level with the entry way and slide it into the house and up onto a couple of furniture dollies. Rolled it into position and lifted it off. Easy peasy.

Time for the sump. Did it the same as the stand, up and in. Man I love the salesman that suggested adding the forks when I bought the tractor.

We set the tank today but didn't get pics. I had to help get it in and my Gal stayed in the bedroom. She said she couldn't stand to watch :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: I hired a moving company to move the tank. First time in my life I've paid anyone to move anything. It was hard as I'm a do it yourself and usually do it alone kind of guy. I wish I would have hired laborers and ran the job myself. I wanted to bring it in the same as the stand and sump using the tractor sliding it in onto dollies then roll it to the stand and lift it on. Boss man wanted to lift into the house and it took all 5 of them and myself to do it. 604lbs ya I would have opted for the tractor but they were in charge. The door opening was 31" and tank 29.5" so it was tight but we made it in unscathed and up onto the stand. My arms are sore today.
PXL_20240223_145314731.jpg

After everyone left my Gal came out. Her first statement "wow it's big" :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: It is big and makes the 180g look small. It's amazing how much difference the extra 6" of depth makes. I'm looking forward to scaping this. The tangs are gonna love the extra swim space.

Sump is in the stand now onto plumbing. You can see the two electrical outlets I added. I ran a dedicated circuit on its own breaker and attached the outlets to the wall, one outside on the end toward the corner and the second where I can reach it from inside the stand.
PXL_20240223_202035583.jpg

Leveled. I used a 4ft bubble level but really didn't have 100% confidence as the bubbles are a little hard for me to see. I added about 3/4" of tap water and checked the waterline. Nice and level.
PXL_20240223_204023558.jpg
PXL_20240223_203924156.jpg

Plumbing in and doors are on.
Next up to get lumber and build a beam and shore up the joists.
The tank is sitting perpendicular to the floor joists and the back almost on top of the house center beam. It would probably be fine but I already have two extra pole jacks so I'm going to build and run a support beam parallel to the center beam about 24" away which will give plenty of support I think.
More to follow.

Moved a couple of sticks over as testers. NO3 was up from 15 to 27 PO4 0.57 I tossed a cup of rowaphos in and did 2 water changes and their on their own.

Leathers haven't been happy lately but I'm not sure why. Im wondering if rhodactis can put out a toxin? Nothing has really changed but they are to the point I'm going to pull all the rock with them that isn't glued together. The tank I bought a few out of years ago was infested with them. They were all over the glass and every surface a available surface. I don't mind a few but I don't want to get overrun.

Rhodactis rocks anyone?

Figured it's been almost a year in observation so time to bring the hippo up. Starting off in an acclimation box and feeding the box so it can get used to all the big guys swimming around. Its a very shy fish which causes some concern but we'll see. My previous one was a bit shy but this one seems even more so. I was shy in observation not just the box.

Getting ready for the big warm up and put out some taps. Was able to get a dig in at my Gal for once asking me why I keep so many useless buckets lol.

Leathers are sometimes so dramatic but I've found their own toxins can bother other leathers.
