To have filter socks or not to have!!

Just curious on how everyone feels about periodically taking out the filter socks and just letting the refugium absorb what the socks would usually take out.. I'm thinking of running my 220 without the socks 2 times a week (24 hour) each...

I hate cleaning filter socks!!!!
A few years ago had a tank that needed the filter socks so I can have nitrates. That was the only time I enjoy the filter sock because I didn't clean it.
After that tank I stopped using it... :-)

Yes, they suck, that is why I only change mine twice a week on my #Synergy CL44 SUMP.

I run them, it does help keep the sump cleaner. I would say it all depends on your system. If your system can run well without any nutrient issues i'd ditch them, less work.

No input here but beautiful tank. Curious why you feel the need to change something that is obviously working well?
