So I have had this toadstool for a few weeks. He usually perks up mid afternoon, will have a good amount of polyps and be generally happy most of the time. The past few days he looks like this and I am concerned. And ideas?

In order for people to give you any practical advice about your coral you should include your complete water parameters and information about your system such as age, lighting (type, intensity, schedule), filtration and any other inhabitants.. full tank pictures are also very useful without to much blue. That being said it can be completely normal for them to sometimes do that for extended periods.

I have three toadstool and they all are weird. Do you have other leathers in the tank and how are they? Toadstool will shed, when they do this they stop extending their polyps and get almost a shiny look to them. This is completely normal. It will take them a couple days and then you will start to notice a thin white layer is almost peeling off of them. After that their polyps should start to extend as normal.

I have also found they are finicky about light and follow. If it doesn't perk up in a week or so you may want to try some different flow.

Can you share a reduced blue light image? What’s the flow like and where does it sit in the tank?

We also have 3 toadstools mine like moderate light and flow. They are very resilient so if you aren’t getting the results you want try moving it to a different area of your tank. I run a mixed tank our water parameters are relatively stable and clean.
