This guy just arrived today. I was acclimating him and saw damage on one of the sides. Iodine dip has been done and a little more flesh peeled away from the skeleton. I did contact UC in this case.

How ever, any advice to stop the spread is much needed. I have had a stressed torch from shipping before. It melted in 2 hours.

Advice to save it???

That Torch doesn't look too good. Hopefully you can get a refund . You can try placing it in display tank under acclimated lighting and hope for the best . I have always had bad luck with online purchases of Torches in the past They are very fragile and finicky

Low flow low light. Let it try to settle and recover a bit. It doesn't look great but also doesn't look horrible. Watch closely for additional tissue loss or color change on the tissue. Iodine is a good one but repeated dips in one day can additionally stress the coral.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I wish I had a better camera. There are such beautiful gold and some hints of orange on this guy. Looks like he's going to make it. Crossing fingers.
I don't know if its how well Unique Corals takes care of their live stock. But I never had a torch respond so well and recover.

Torches don’t like shipping. Mine did something similar when I got it, but it started doing well fast.
Probably just got a little too irritated during transportation. Should be good from here on out!

Watch parameters and try to keep everything as stable as possible.

Swings in parameters at this point are crucial for survival.

Good for you. Leave it there on the bottom for at least the next 2 weeks as it recovers.

Made coffee, tested waters.
I run these 3 weekly.

Red sea test kit
Calcium: 450 - 460 Maybe low...
Alk: 9.8
Mag: 1050 - I feel is low.

I test my ph every other day.
Salfurts PH test: 8.0
I don't want to dose just to raise ph if I can keep its stable . It stays between 8.0 and 8.2

These I normally don't test. Probably a habit I need to change, and get hana instruments.
API ammonia ... 0 but this kit is garbage as all api tests.
api nitrites: 0
api nitrates: 0

If mag is truly that low it will become an issue for euphyllia growth and healing.

It should go up with a larger water change. Just don't go to high too fast.

I keep my salinity at 1.025. Going to allow evaporation to raise it to 1.026. That's what the shipping water tested at. Water change at 30% this friday. Or, should I sooner?

The tank will be 1 yr old in July, started with 50lbs dry, 25 lbs live. Tuxedo urchin keep the coraline from plating. And or my stupid orbit ic leds. I hate them now.

Edit: Seneye par meter torch is sitting at 100 par. Too low or too high?

I think 80-100 as it heals. I have my hammers at 150-200. That would be a target to move to in a few weeks.

Although I would not trust API test kits either but nitrates should be at least detectable IMO.

to be honest that pic looks normal hammer frogspawn can do this aswell pulling their tissue inside the skeleton during transport if it got bumpy not an issue just give it time in proper water conditions it should bounce right back over night.

Well if its a hammer or a frog, I want my money back.

I'll trim back my cheato and see if i can spike my nitrates a bit.
