glad you and your famly are ok rev.some battry operated air pumps will help with gas exchange keep that surface moving and produce a minor amount of current .you can find them at wallmart or almost any bait & tacle shop although i doubt anything will be open.good luck hope everything workes out.

I am so sorry to hear about your area. I just read CNN and they are report 173 causalities over 5 states which is just unreal. Glad to know you decided to leave and protect your family. I hope everything is okay with your home and tank. Lots of good suggestions from everyone here - and just to make you feel better, i left my tank off accidentally for 24 hours and no problems.

I think a lot of it would depend on the surface area compared with the volume. As long as you don't have a very deep tank, you should be fine. I'm glad everyone is alright.

My sister-in-law lives in Vestavia Hills. Her family and house is fine. However, her kids had stayed at a friends house. It is fortunate that they had an underground tornado shelter, because when they came up this morning, their house was completely gone!

202 dead and counting, WOW what a tragedy with the loss of lives and property. Had an f3 come through here a few yrs back and I watched it on the ground for over 30 min it was crazy. Few days later an f5 rolled through 20 miles away and stayed on the ground for 37 minutes... They are killing machines... Good luck with the tank but family as you said is all that is important in a time like this.

I am very sorry for everyone up there suffering, wishing you and your loved ones the best.

You corals will probably be fine. With a low fish load, they are probably way better off than if they were in a shipping bag being overnighted somewhere. You may have 2 or 3 days, depending on temp, to get some flow and filtration going.

Hey Rev, Good luck to you and your family! Your tank should be fine for atleast 24 hrs. Just think of it as shipping your entire tank overnight UPS. They might stress a little but should be fine for the most part.

Good luck rev and I am not sure if anyone has already mentioned it but I have seen some smaller generators for cheap at walmart if they are not already gone.

Sending some good energy your way! I went through a week long power outage during an ice storm many years ago. I didn't have any corals, but water temp went down into the 60's and maybe the 50s ( I feel like it actually got into the 50s) I didn't have generators, just blankets to wrap the tank around. So I feel your frustration. Luckily I didn't lose any fish.

+1 to DB suggestions, if you have time try to empty out the chambers of your equipment of standing water.
