I used the tasks to setup my Trident to handle Dosing.
I setup Alk and Calcium to dose based off of the trident test. I am using the default setting for testing

My ALK is 8.9. for the control settings it is set to 8.5
My Calcium is 412. for the control settings it is set for 480

the DOS is dosing 0.1ml every 2 hours for both

my question is- Why is it dosing Alk at 0.1 ml every 2 hours if it is already exceeding my set range

I used the task to set both up over a 24 hour period. I get the CAL dosing but at 0.1ml every 2 hours?

Am I missing something or is this normal operation?

I am using BRS 2 part mix. I noticed that ALK and more so the CAL crystallize once it hits the water. Is that a flow in the sump issue? I was thinking of adding a small power head to add flow. I

The Trident will only adjust the DOS amount when the Trident test results are within the range you specify. Once the readings go outside that range, the DOS reverts to delivering the base amount from its schedule. This is by design, so the Trident is not allowed to dramatically adjust the dosing levels if a test result is faulty.

thanks for the link!

Just for my understanding

since my ALK is higher that my set control range, it will minimal dose. until my ALK level drops to my set range +/-
And for my Calcium, it is at 412 which is 18 over my 50 range, it will just minimal dose until it gets in the +/- 50 range

Is it good practice to adjust that range? It was default from the task. Since I just started dosing yesterday would it make sense to adjust the Calcium range to say 80 and drop it to 50 again once it comes in range?

I figured out what was wrong. The amount to dose on the interval setting was set to 1.0ml by default. Used the brs calculator to figure out how much was needed to get from my current Calcium of 401 to 450. it gave me 425ml so now it is dosing more frequently and at about 3 ml's. Is it really just that easy or am I still missing something?

I also ran the same calculator for ALK and gave me 25ml to maintain an 8.5 DKH. my current DKH is 8.9 right now but it is still dosing 0.3ml. should it not dose anything until it is back down?

Bump as last question never commented on and I am curious myself...

Yes. Turn off the ALK pump until your ALK is where you want it. Then resume dosing. If it keeps going over tell it to dose less.
