I'm having flashbacks from my bout with velvet last year. Only lost one fish, and an eel to carpet surfing, but man... went thru heck with the tanks. I had a 75 mostly FOWLR, experimenting with keeping coral, and evidently, feeding an anemone bits of frozen fish was enough to keep the velvet alive thru the fallow period, so it broke out again once fish were reintroduced. Had to set my 40B QT back up and remove all fish again which required removing rock again to catch them all. Cured it the second time and went double fallow while fish lived in the QT tank for the time being.
I also had an Innovative Marine 14g peninsula that I started really delving into keeping corals with. SPS dominant, and after a few months I found out that dosing didn't work and to do 50%(5g bucket) weekly WC and it started looking good. Both tanks broke out at the same time. Lost a VERY small coral beauty in the nano. After no fish for a few months my corals went from bright green birds nest and dark blue stylo, to like a sea foam and sky blue. Bonsai acro looked pink almost. The birds nest was almost white at one point until I started dosing NO3 and PO4.
I hate velvet. With passion.
I just remembered that I need a frag of GARF Bonsai.
