“Out for delivery” per says Amazon.

I’m upgrading all my equipment one piece at a time on the 29g mixed reef. Today’s arrival is the Seachem Tidal 55 HOB filter to replace the horrible and undersized Aqua-Tech filter.

My question for R2R is which route do I go for a smooth transition?
1.) Just put all the media from the old filter directly into the new Seachem Tidal filter. Remove old HOB. Enjoy the Seachem!

2.) Run both filters simultaneously for about XXXXX amount of time. After that time is up, remove the old filter and enjoy!

3.) Mix 50/50 of the old media with new media, placing into new filter and run it. Removing the old HOB?

Any help is appreciated, I hope I’m not overthinking anything about this. *This is just my mechanical filtration as I use filter floss as my general media.

now what? fish GIF

i like option #1 myself. I'm not entirely sure on this but would be concerned with the new media causing issues with your cycle.

Cycle…. I hope not. The aquarium is 1yr. young. I’ll face a cycle with a new HOB filter? I wasn’t going to use any of the new Seachem media?

I understand what you’re saying. Sorry that’s my fault, I think my eyes went faster than my brain when I was reading.

i'm basically going off of what can happen if you add a large piece of rock to an actively cycled system. This is why i said option #1 which is use your pre-cycled media to start and work everything in stages after that.

Very disappointed in this delivery. I don’t know if this is an Amazon issue or Sellers issue. I can’t stand waiting for something only to have it arrive to be sent right back out because it’s trashed.
If I wanted anything that looked like this I would’ve gone to the ThriftyStore or looked around at garage sales. This has to be a joke like they sent me a used one.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
