Back to the topic, best move you could’ve done, take everything out of the tank. I had a RS 170, vertical front seams separating, I removed livestock immediately. It was level.

Well it's done! The evac that is...

The whole tank is moved to a giant 450L pond bin, took an entire day but I did it. New tank will be here Thursday, I went with a Red Sea Reefer S-550. Now I just have to race the clock and get everything built so I can move my livestock before things start crashing in the holding bin.

Will be rigging up a light mount tomorrow. But if anyone has any tips for keeping this pond bin going I'm all ears. I've got heat, powerheads, my Apex, an ammonia alert badge now and some nitrifying bacteria coming tomorrow.

Good news is, the tank didn't explode, put water all over floor and kill all my livestock! Thanks for the advice all! Look out for a new build thread. 😉

Ignore all the negativity. You got everything transferred to the 450L, new tank ks on the way. I wish you the best of luck with not having any casualties. Breath. Take your time. Don't rush it. Everything will work out in your favor and your new tank is going to look so much better! I'd keep your current Red Sea tank. I would strip all of the silicone off the seems and reseal it. Now you'll have two tanks! Don't lose hope bud! You got this.

Man I am so sorry. Like he said and go get you stock tank before it’s too late. Man, I am so sorry.

@SaltwaterAq this is why I was dogging you guys with Jimmy’s build. I really like you guys and try and shop with you guys. But man, the wake of destruction that Red Sea is leaving behind is catastrophic.

Thanks,
Chris Freader

You what to know why that is? Red Sea gifts them for the videos at least they did with Hilary’s! I adore Hilary and her knowledge but man I see a future disaster.

Sorry to see more of this. The blame is on redsea not you or your cat.

@WhatCouldGoWrong71 I was thinking the same thing about Jimmy's new tank. Also IIRC Hillary also used RS. Would be interesting to know how much they actually paid for the tanks or is it nothing more than a promotional RS video?
Promotional video! Hilary is my friend and she is the sweetest. But I do wish another company not RS sponsored/gifted them tanks and equipment.

Who is Jimmy?

Who is Hillary?
Two very sweet and well-known people in the hobby and stars of the channel and website saltwateraquarium.com. Hilary is a marine biologist and Jimmy is NewbieReefer on socials. They were both given Red Sea tanks and equipment to make sponsored builds on SalwaterAquarium.com’s YouTube by Red Sea.

Good! You can technically keep everything in here indefinitely! It’s essentially a second tank. So honestly there isn’t any rush in getting another tank immediately. Especially if time, money, or space is an issue. I know it’s a process to get a new tank up and running after you tear down and move the first one. I do recommend covering it. You can use thin aquarium mesh or egg crate.

Well known to some I suppose. I'm in the hobby, I have the internet, I've never heard of either of them. Just sayin lol.

Probably to late, but you really should click the search bar here and type 3 words, RED SEA FAIL.
Then look at the overwhelming evidence they are JUNK and stop buying that garbage that seam separation issues in the G1 and G2 series.

This is how bad Red Sea is, I do not have to Click a TANK LEAK thread to know it is a Red Sea, They are the ONLY Brand that is reported having seam issue failures in the 2.5 years I have been watching these forums.

I even did a Thread about it a while back, like 2 years ago, here go read.

I agree with @AydenLincoln that stock bin will hold your stuff for a very long time. It may not be the best looking or easiest to view your corals but will work great. You have time to set up your new tank how you want it. You could build a simple light stand out of wood to mount your lights if you haven't done so already. Dont rush the new tank youll be kicking yourself in the future. Just keep up on the maintenance on the bin, dosing, feeding whatever you did on the previous tank.

Really appreciate hearing this, as yeah I was stressing rushing the new tank.

I'm building a light stand today out of PVC to try and get two Radions lighting it up. I've also got a smaller skimmer in storage that I'm going to try and setup in the corner of the holding bin.

Also this thread is for help and support, I didn't start it to pile on Red Sea. The tank is 12 years old, I got it second hand for $500, and it lasted me 8 years, I got my monies worth.

I understand people may have strong feelings about Red Sea tanks, but if we could keep this thread focused on recovering from a disaster it would really be helpful for me as I'm dealing with a lot of stress right now as is. 😨

I would caution using PVC (or anything else) that was quickly assembled that could allow a light to drop into the new tank. (You can have koi once the new tank is installed!)

I mention the light fixture holder, a 2x4 with can easily span a small pond tank and a few screws can hold the lights to the boards (or pvc). Don't get in a hurry to hang lights and make something that creates a failure threat.

Take it slow, I have had corals in a bin for ages, along with fish. The most pressing issue for me has been evaporation. Put a mark or a piece of tape or measure the drop from the edge so you can keep the water topped off easily enough.

I am checking back today again because when you were busy yesterday I was wondering if you were going to cash it all in. Glad to see the new pond. Koi when the reefs back together!

Sorry that was in no way directed at Hillary personally. I'm sure its just bussiness for her and I get that.
