Had my 100g Cadlights tank leak at the seams couple months back after 10yrs and thought the WB blue Friday sale was a good time to start all over. I think after 10yrs of salt water exposure, the wood stand bowed slightly in one corner which caused a tiny leak at the back seam. I was about to leave on a 2week vacation 4 days later and just thankful it happened when it did!

Wish I could go bigger but my living room being on the 2nd floor, 100g was the largest tank I was willing to go. Thought about going with the IM 100EXT but decided to switch up the dimensions a bit and went for the WB 155.5 Frag instead. Due to my experience with the leak, having an aluminum stand was a must have this time around.

Been pretty busy but hoping to find the time to at least get it wet by Christmas. This will be an SPS dominant tank.

Thanks for visiting and will be posting progress pix as I figure out how I want to setup my plumbing.

Stand was pretty easy and straight forward to put together. Had read a couple of reviews of people saying the WB stands were garbage and would sway side to side. Maybe they have improved the stands recently but mine was rock solid and I'm very happy with the build quality all around thus far.

got around to installing some LED strip lights last night.

In terms of UV, I was running a Lifegard ProMax 55w on my last tank I hope to re-use it for this setup but not sure how I'm going to place this beast in the stand. Maybe toying with selling it for a AquaUV 57w since it's a much smaller form factor. Or maybe just mounting it at an angle? but then that doesn't leave me much room for my equipment. I do know I don't really want to mount the UV outside the stand on the wall nor outside on the back floor. Need to think about this some more...

Decided to mount the UV resting on top of the back chamber of the sump. I don't plan on using that anyways since I'll be draining directly into a Reefmat. Ended up ordering UV mounts from Neat Aquatics that was made for Pentair but since the Lifegard is also a 3" body the fitment is perfect!

The plan will be to plumb the UV directly inline of the return back into the tank.

Reefmat 1200 arrived and previously I wasn't sure if it would fit since the specs from Redsea indicated it needed an 8.7" opening but the WB sump dimensions said it was only 8.5". Eitherway I can 100% confirm it fits perfectly.

Plans this weekend is to try and plumb my return into this Reefmat 1200 that just arrived. Seems like the attachment that came with the Reefmat fits directly with the DN32 drain pipe size that came from Waterbox so I don't think I'll need a metric to standard fitting as I had previously thought.

Whew finally got the tank fully plumbed - only took me 5hrs and multiple online and Homedepot trips.

Main Drain
I ended up using part of the piping that came with WB for the emergency drain in order to extend the main drain over to the Reefmat. This was due to the piping being DN32 (40mm) which I wasn't able to readily find locally so I just worked with what I had.

I wasn't sure whether to use the hose connection glue that came from Redsea or PVC cement to connect to the flexible Reefmat slip connection. Ended using PVC cement just to be sure....

Return Plumbing
The most time-consuming thing was to find replacement union slip connections since the otherside was already attached to the UV, return pump, and Neptune flow meter from my old tank that I wanted to reuse. I was able to find ones that fit my UV from a combination of Homedepot and Lowes since they sold different brand unions. The ones for the Neptune flow meter I found out the CEPEX ball valve slip replacements that they sold at BRS fit perfectly!! https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/replacement-ball-valve-slip-connectors-cepex.html

Also super happy that Waterbox included a 1" US sized slip adapter for the return union which made finding parts locally much easier. I ordered all the piping and connections from BRS.

Emergency Drain
I had read online that the WB emergency drain in the overflow is too low which causes noise when water falls into the overflow. One solution is to raise the emergency drain by adding (2) 45deg which then allows you to raise the waterlevel into the overflow.

Since I wasn't planning to use the back chamber in the sump, I also needed to extend out the emergency plumbing. Additionally since I used up all the emergency drain piping for the main drain, I ended up buying a 40mm - 1.25in coupler from BRS and then a 1.25in -> 1in reducer so that I could use the plumbing I already had.

Some progress pix of the controller board setup and finally got the tank wet! Will officially start cycling today as well.

sand: 60 lbs of Caribsea special grade
rock: leftover rock from my previous tank that has been sitting out dry in tubs

Did run into one hickup during all this with my Neptune Apex - it wouldn't power on once I got everything plugged in and setup. Turned out the power supply went out and after some research appears to be a common issue.

Thread discussing this issue: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/f...does-have-functional-indicator-lights.786304/

Luckily it turned out to be a cheap fix by just resolding an $8 part from Amazon. This was my first time soldering and found it pretty straight forward after watching a couple youtube videos.

That's sickkk plumbing. Following along.

I did the same mod for the overflow. Helped quiet the tank immensely. Are you running the flow through the emergency drain as well? The lower overflow I couldn't quiet so I raised it to the higher drain.

No I'm running the water level right below the emergency drain. What kind of noise are you getting from the main drain line?

For awhile I kept getting a gurgling noise and air bubbles coming out of the main drain exit into the sump. Realized it was due to the curagated connection for the Reefmat not having enough pipe connection glue applied and was thus not 100% air tight. The drain pipe need to form a completely air tight siphon from the overflow into the sump or else it will make noise.

It's been about a month since I initially got the tank wet and started my cycle. I've been out of the country so finally got around to getting my first fish added. Picked up two reef chromis and so far they're doing great! Currently trying to plan out my fish list and the order I want to add them. Thinking next on my list will be a cardinal bangai and then a Copperband.

I also got around to installing my lighting setup. On my previous tank I was running 3 Hydra 52 HD and was considering whether I wanted to just continue using those... instead I got the itch to try out Radions to change things up. Picked up a pair of XR15 G6 Pro with the intent of adding a 3rd one once I started adding more coral.

Final update is I turned on my Reefmat. It's only been a couple of days so still figuring out the correct setting for this thing.. currently have it set to autoadvance w/ a max advance length of .4 - .6inch. Tank is pretty clean currently so it's only consuming about 5in of filter media a day.
