This is my first time putting together a sump. I thought I put this all together correctly, but after filling with water and turning on the return pump, I'm having the following issue: the water in the chamber with the return pump doesn't go down at all when I turn it on although water is coming out of the overflow nozzles. Tons of water is coming back into the sump to the point where it's bubbling and splashing. Pic of the setup below. I imagine there some silly thing I'm doing wrong here or that I missed along the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: using the syncra 3.0 and added more pics

Your return chamber water line should always stay the same. I usually would have my ATO sensor in here as well. I can’t rely see your return chamber because the ATO.

You can slow your return pump and that will assist with less bubbles and noise from the drain.

You will want to put a restriction flow valve on your return line so the water don’t flow down in case of power outage or back syphon that can happen some times.

Here is my sump: both in our cases, we do have to have higher than desired water level in the main chamber where we keep the skimmer for it to work properly. Which carries to the return chamber. The level in your sump should stay the same. It shouldn’t be going up and down.

Advice. Get the water level set. The return chamber should be lower than the other chambers. Set the valve till it's quiet. If you're not happy with the return pump flow adjust it and quiet it again. Try to never adjust the valve again, (you'll probably need to play with it a few times). But once it's set. Adjust your return pump up or down a bit to quiet it. This will help inform you of your pumps performance . And always have a constant volume of water in your aquarium. For example. I set my pump freshly cleaned to 75%, 6 months it's up to 80%, I'll clean the Pump and reset. If you're fiddling with the valve all the time. It's changing the volume of the system. Have the system back syphon as little water volume as possible when the return pump turns off. Lower flow through the sump, but more than enough to keep the tank temperature correct. Have fun!
