Hello! My weeping willow toadstool has been super happy and healthy for a couple months now but all of a sudden it starting acting weird. Its polyps won’t come out and it’s making a concave cone shape. The nitrates (16.5) and phosphates (.02) aren’t terrible so I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. I was planning on an 10 gallon water change tomorrow to bring the nitrates back down but the toadstool should react that way to elevated nitrates, right?

Any thoughts?

My toadstool sheds a mucous layer every once in a while during that period it’s closed up then comes out in all its beauty bigger and better than before.

Those levels aren't a concern to me unless they just went that high all of a sudden. I run anywhere 15-20 nitrates and like .15 phosphates

My weeping willow is in this picture just opening back up after shedding its "skin" over a 3 day period.
