I have been having issues with some of SPS frags/Colonies. I thought my levels wee of and tested like crazy, they always feel within NSW standards. I do water changes @10% every 2 weeks. Thought maybe the salt was it but been using the same brand for years, RC. My husbandry practices have been off, some weeks the loss of my daughter is overwhelming, and I don't even wan to mess with it. They had to have come from eggs because I dip and dip some more before adding to frag tank and when all stays well, I put them in my DT. After dipping every frag, @10, I looked for every frag that had bite marks, which I found after I knew I had them, I counted, @8 AEFWs after dipping them all.

So, everyone look at what can happen even when you do your best. I don't know hoe I can get interceptor for me to treat for AEFWs. My vet won't give it to me:mad: Big .Bummer:(

I believe you're best course of action is going to be a lot of dips. I would Use something like bayer and really blast them with a turkey baster while in the dip. I would consistently dip for about a month to make sure you get the eggs when they hatch. Hopefully someone with a more concrete procedure can chime in.

Interceptor is for red bugs not AEFW. You'll need to set up QT and dip in bayer each week until all the eggs have hatched and been dipped. The display will need to be free of Acros for 6 weeks or more. If you can't set up a QT then regular dips may eventually get the job done. Make sure to not get any residue in your display or you will lose all your pods, crabs and shrimp.

I recently acquired some Acro frags I put into QT after doing the routing Coral RX dips for a couple of weeks and nothing falling off I noticed about 2-3weeks in some AEFW bite marks. I dosed the whole QT tank with a heavy double dose of Prazipro and continue the Coral RX and Bayer dips every 3 days. Must have been recently hatched eggs I missed since the initial dips turned up with no AEFW falling off. After the dips and Prazipro treatment I've noticed AEFW's falling off. So far I've seen an improvement in growth/color and no more bite marks. I was to the point of tossing them. I haven't really heard of Prazipro helping with AEFW but in my case its possible. Especially with the heavy dose and combo of dips every 3 days. I'll keep an eye on them for the next month or so and hopefully they will be eradicated. Good luck

As stated above interceptor is for redbugs, to battle aefw you will need a lot of bayer, time and patience.

I would put all the acros on a rack at first, and lightly dip and inspect them once every 5-7 days untill you see that things are better

Had a brain fart on Interceptor.:confused: I have picked out all of the frags that I saw bites marks on and then the ones beside them. Pulled out another 5-6 aefws. I do set my new frags up in the frag tank for 2-3 wks before putting in the DT. Usual process is: Dip new corals in Revive, place in frag tank to monitor and then dip again in Revive before putting in DT. I guess I should get something besides Revive to dip my corals in but every time I do dip, they fall off and shrivel off pretty quick.
Here to Reefing:rolleyes: I'm just glad I figured out what was causing my acros to not be doing well.

KZ Flatworm Stop!!!

This DOES NOT KILL AEFW!!!! The theory behind it is, that it causes your acros to grow a much thicker Mucus layer around it's tissue. This makes it so the acros start healing, grow a thicker mucus layer and can no longer be attacked by the AEFW. When I frag stuff now, it literally looks like the acros on Nickelodeon's Kid Choice Awards getting slimmed, just globs of it come of lol.

I did the 8 week dip process only to have them show back up as soon as all the acros went back into the tank. Tried KZ FWS as an "what the heck do I got to lose" type thing, and much to my surprise no aefw bite marks in 5 months, since about a week after starting to dose it. I can not say if this actually kills the aefw, as i have not stopped dosing, so don't know if they're still in the tank or not, but like to assume they starve to death. But I'm not taking any chances and gonna keep dosing permanently, the cost is justifiable compared to some of my acros. Not saying this will work for you but it has for me and thought id share. You can get bayer at lowes or home depot. When I dip I use 10ml of bayer per 4oz of tank water.
