Well last night,I was on the internet looking at some options for me tank.And I showed my wife this SPS tank and I said "Thats what I want my tank to look like!!!!" and the first thing she says is "Well,whats that seriously going to cost us,$10,000" and I was like,"Well,it could be that much,but I really doubt it"

So I didnt think much of it at the time,but when I couldnt get to sleep last night,I thought to myself:

"Does the amount of money we put into our tanks effect the way the tank really looks,or is it really how we take care of our tanks,not what money we spend on our tanks?"

What do you think,is it the money,or the husbandry we invest into our tanks,or is it both?!?!

I think the design of the tank,stand, and scape i nthe tank make the 1st impression, but how you take care of your tank really adds the WOW factor, imo.

My 30g BC has come a LONGGGG way ill tell ya. I feel that if you keep up with water changes and such it eliminates a lot of extra money needed for maintenance. I personally am against the use of a fuge so if you want to cut that out of the idea youll save some good money. Like stated above...its the aquascape and lighting that get the attention.

I agree with KLR. There are some slammin' nano and bio cubes out there. But what is the difference between an ok tank and an awesome tank? The only answer is husbandry.

If you bought them all as colonies it could probably add up pretty quick. But if you bought them as frags and grew them out yourself you could probably do it for less than a grand.

I think how much you spend does play a role. There is some equipment that is better then others we all know that. There are some salts that we use just because there better and more expensive, just like GFO its not needed but it helps. Then the corals that are added most of the nicer WOW corals are priced more. But yes it does come down to care, You can spend 20k on a nano, but once a month water changes dosing (Alk,cal,mag) once a week is going to keep things waky and make everything off. So yes the care does count alot but being able and willing to throw down some money for the hobby also helps.

I think its both.

We have to be able to drop some money on our tanks,Im not saying like a ton,but we cant run an all SPS tank with a Aquatraders Skimmers and a Power compact light set up,we have to invest into some nice basics before we get nice corals!

THen when we get corals,I think the biggest thing we need to do is waterchanges and keeping up with our tanks just all around...scraping coraline isnt a big thing,but it adds to the WOW factor.
