I posted this in the "My Current QT Process" thread, but figured I'd get more traction here. Anyway, this guy made it through the 14 days of therapeutic Copper Power, which I also dosed Metroplex and was transferred over to a 2nd qt for General Cure dosing. On day 11, I noticed him flashing on the PVC. It's also when I noticed him missing more scales than usual from before the transfer.

These next two photos show what I'm talking about. It's near his eye and on his head. On his head, it seemed to be lumpy like.

Now two days later, noticed a white growth/lump coming from near his eye on the opposite side. The "wound" on his head also seems to be more like a hole now, though with some lumpiness to it? Any idea what could be causing this? His tankmate isn't showing any signs of it (yet). Appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

I wonder if this could be true hole in the head disease which is caused by internal parasites migrating up to the head. Did you feed GC laced food?

@HotRocks @4FordFamily thoughts?

Looks like Uronema

I’m not sure about Uronema because of the placement of the wound and the development of a spot right next to the eye. If you look at the sideways pic it almost looks like a HLLE is starting which could be from the same parasites I referenced above.

Yes, LRS Fish Frenzy laced with GC, Focus, Selcon, and Garlic Guard. Is it that tough of a disease to get through Metro and GC?

Uronema is the worst parasite to have IMO, it typically presents with red bloody type sores and is found often on Anthias, Chromis, and now Pygmy Angels. Uronema cannot be starved out as it doesn’t require a host to survive. Typical treatment is Metro at 2 scoops per 10G and metro laced food. I don’t think that’s what you have though (hopefully)

I actually think it might be a bacterial lesion. It’s common for fish to develop these during/after copper, since copper in an immunosuppressant.

I would treat with a wide-spectrum antibiotic for 10-14 days. Also, a bath in acriflavine (ruby reef rally) might be helpful.

Is it possible to overmedicate? During copper, I did Metro + Kanaplex. Would I be fine to do that again, and throw in Furan-2 as well?

I have currently:
Metroplex
Kanaplex
Neoplex
General Cure
Furan-2
Ruby Reef Rally

Would the Rally bath be a one-time thing?

I'd go with the RRR bath as posted above ^^^ and then follow with treatment in a QT with the Furan2 for 10-14 days. NFG powder would be better. But Furan2 is one of the components of NFG and it's what you have on hand. Bacterial infections in this area of the body are so close to the central nervous system, time is of the essence.

Is there specific instructions for Furan-2 or do I just follow package instructions and do it for the 10-14 day duration? No need to do the Metroplex + Kanaplex along with this?

Also, thanks everyone for all the help!

If you are using the Furan-2 alone, then yes, I’d follow the package instructions for 10 days. I think that is what I would do at this point, since they have already been through a full course of kana/metro.
