What is it?

Just curious what it is? My guess is some kinda worm colony. It has been spreading to another rock that is very porous. I noticed it 4 -5 years ago but It disappeared for a few years and now it has been slowly recolonizing.
What is it? It doesn't seem to effect growth of corals it in counters.
I think it's kinda neat cause it sways I'm the current . At first I thought it was HA, but when I reach down to touch it, it all goes in the rock.

I actually think its a type of coral, an octospawn like a clove polyp.

mine would disappear in the rock like your do.

any chance of getting a better closer pic? a simple magnifying glass in front of the phone will work sometimes as a closeup lens.

I'll try to get better pics tonight when I'm home.
It looks more like peach fuzz then an actual polyp, but I'll investigate closer
