May be a sack of eggs or debris with secretion

That.... doesn't seem like a bad thing then, does it?
Tunicates aren't bad unless they start to spread aggressively, and then they should be relatively easy to remove/contain - so, yeah, if they're tunicates, they should be harmless (just keep an eye out for any invasive spreading).

I see what you're saying there - an easy way to tell if it might be an oyster or not for you, OP, is to feel it and see if it feels hard/solid or soft/squishy.
