I have been trying to get rid of this white sponge stuff for a year now. I brush it off, scrape it away, nothing helps it just keeps growing back. What is it and how can I make it go away ?

Sounds like a tunicate/sea squirt. They help filter the water. If it looks like a sponge and spreads, could be that.

I'll try cleaning it off again and airing it out, see what happens. How long do you think the kryptonite coral can be exposed to the air ?

i would assume a few minutes or more??wave the coral around in the water make the tissue recede before pulling it out so its not hanging off the skeleton once you have it out of the water. Maybe try also smashing the sponge once its out.

You can hit it with the Kent Lugols Iodine. I have done this successfully on some similiar sponge that was on a zoa frag.

I just used the dropper that comes with the Lugols. I pulled the frag out and applied the Lugols directly to the sponge. I let it sit out of the tank for several minutes then gave the frag a quick rinse in tank water and put it back in. The sponge died off in a matter of days.

It's an "invasive" sponge of sorts. Tough to kill for sure! IME angels don't care much for that kind of sponge, but may pick at it. If the Idonie doesn't work (never tried it, couldn't tell ya) I would frag the coral off of the skeleton/rock that's underneath it.
